Bob Mitchell Nappanee 73 North Judson 70 The high scoring Bulldogs continued their blistering scoring pace and racked up their 10th win in 14 games last Friday by defeating North Judson in a close contest, 73-70. Coach Dougherty’s quintet has won four of their last five games, and have scored 70 or more points in the four winning efforts. The Bulldog-Blue Jay contest was a scoring duel between Naps Jerry Lambert and North Judson’s Tom Risner, with Lambert winning the duel by pumping in 14 field goals and 11 free throws for 39 points. Risner hit two more field goals but only five free throws for 37 points. Lambert’s 39 points fell six points shy of the NHS scoring record for a single? game. Former Bulldog center Larry Lakins set the record with 45 points against Columbia City in 1957. Three quick baskets by Tod Lehman gave Nap a early 6-0 lead, and at the end of the first period the Bulldogs enjoyed an eight point lead, 18-10. The Blue Jays found the range in the second period and scorched

the nets for 26 points to lead at halftime, 36-35. Both teams hit exceptionally well from the floor in the first half. Nap hit 43 percent of their shots, and North Judson 46 percent. The Blue Jays increased their lead to eight points midway through the third period, but the Bulldogs rallied and trailed by only two points 57-55, going into the final period. It was nip and. tuck in the hectic fourth period with Nap finally regaining the lead and tiled holding on to preserve a hard fought victory at the final gum Ron Kendall and Tod Lehifian hit 13 points each to aid the Bulldog cause. The only Blue Jay besides Risner to hit in double figures was Ciboh with five field goals. Friday night, the Bulldogs travel to Kendallville to meet the always dangerous Comets. Led by John Gehring and Dan Diggins, the tall Comets own a 8-7 record and soundly trounced Butler by 23 points in their last outing. Next Tuesday night, the Bulldogs return home to face Bremen.
