game by a convincing 69-53 margin to win the coveted crown. Fine shooting by Ron Kendall and Jerry Lambert paved the way for Nap’s triumph over the dangerous quintet. The Tiger* were attempting to avenge an earlier defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs. Warsaw’s Dick Lesh put the Tigers out in front on a pair of baskets, but two tip-ins by Nap’s Bob Berger knotted it at 4-4. Dave Johnson’s free throw put Warsaw out in front 54 hat Kendall pumped in two field goals and a lone free threw to regain the

lead for Nap. Nap never trailed again although the Tigers stayed within striking distance throughout most of the first three periods. Early in the fourth period, Wsaw trailed by eight points, 5042, but Lambert tossed in six straight points and Kendall added six more to pull the Bulldogs out of danger. Lambert wound up with 25 points and Kendall had 21. Johnson of Warsaw was high scorer for the game with 26 points. Warsaw hit two more field goals than Nap, but were no match for the Bulldogs at the charity stripe where Nap outscored their opponet, 23-11. Plymouth gained the right to meet Nap in the championship game by winning its first game of the season and eliminated Bremen, 5539. The consolation game between Warsaw and Bremen went to the Tigejs, 57-45. In the title game that followed. Nap jumped off to a quick lead as Lambert hit three in a row and Berger added a tip-in to give the Bulldogs a 8-0 lead The Pilgrims trailed by Jive points, 15-10, at the end of the first period, and early in the see ond quarter trailed by one slim point, 16-15. But’two free throws by Kendall, and three field goals from outside by guard Tod Lehman gave Nap a comfortable lead again. In the fourth period, Plymouth gave up their zone defense and started to press forcing the Bulldogs to commit several mistakes. The Pilgrims narrowed Nap’s lead to six points, 53-47, with only four minutes to play. Coach Dougherty called time-out to reorganize his team. At this point, Lambert took over and witk some uncanny field goal sniping pulled the game out of the fire. Jerry personally accounted for th* next 13 of the 15 points Nap scored in the final four minutes. Only a basket interrupted his string of five field goals and three free throws. Lambert’s 32 points in the title game gave him a total of 37 for two games and tourney high scorer honors. After the final gun, happy coach Dougherty and his elated Bulldogs cut down the nets and accepted the well-deserved championship trophy. Friday night, the Bulldogs hope to duplicate their victory as the two teams meet again on the Plymouth floor. Only one stone can be laid at a time- -in building a wall, or a life.
