He was informed that it had already been that the cut could be lessened at the point of entrance of the church parking lot by changing the grade along there. Mr. White said that this would be acceptable. A report from the Nappanee Development Corp. reviewed the progress in obtaining land along the south side of E. provided for this street by means of a stub constructed in connection with the S. Side interceptor sewer. There was a discussion on how the present policy on private taps on the new sewers were working out. Individuals can contact privately with the sewer contractors to have a tao stub or riser installed during the construction of the main sewers. The only place that this is not working out well is where someone wants to provide one “V” arangement to provide outlets for two plots or with pines laid in a common trench. Neither arrangement is considered good and resident engineers were instructed to see that no private taps were made that do not meet the approval of the professional engineer.
Where Are We To Put Fire Truck Before Winter? The Common Council met Monday in a short and uneventful meeting. They okayed renewal of plumber’s licenses for Culligans, Hunsberger Plumbing and Heating, Pontious Plumbing and Heating, and Delbert Yoder. City Clerk Greene reported that the parking meter fund was running behind last year. For the first ten months of 1960, receipts are $7,190.62 as compared with $6,695.00 for the same period this year —a drop of $495.62. It was announced that the assessment roles 81A and 818 had been prepared and were in the process of being delivered to everyone concerned. There will be a public hearing on this for the regular meeting of November 20. The vacancy on the Library Board was filled when the Council appointed Mrs. David Stalnaker for this position. Councilman Newcomer again brought up the matter of where to house the fire truck before the snows fly. He urged action on this matter, which has been discussed several times with no solution. Mayor Clouse said that he still felt that a shelter built between the City Building and the Utilities Company would be the best solution. No immediate actionwas taken, although it was agreed to immediately explore various possibilities. The Mayor asked each member to study the situation of possible need for anew light on W. Randolph. There is quite a bit of vacant property near Main Street and neighbors have complained about the darkness of that area.
