ff-SWS ' ' BobMltchoii '• - ;k Nappanee Washington Clay at South Bend Friday night. Cpph, Paul Gunderman’s NHS Bulldogs resumed daily practice sessions this week in preparation for the Friday night encounter with Washington—Clay Colonials at South Bend. Faced with a rebuilding task this season, the Colonials have won two and lost three, but are reported to be a much better ball club since dropping their season opener to New Carlisle by a 13-0 score. Coach Gunderman has been pleased with the spirited workouts to date. The squad was given a big lift by the return to action of 195 lb. senior Doug Weaver. Hurt in the opener against Columbia City, Doug missed the next three gamps and the Bulldogs dropped two of the three. Weaver returns to the line-up at anew position. Coach Gunderman his elected him as his starting fullback for Friday night’s game. On defense, Doug will move up to his old tackle post. Coach Gunderman reports the Auburn game has definitely been cancelled. Auburn officials claim their schedule is too heavy to permit a game during the week. However, local school officials are attempting to find a suitable opponet whp is will to play during the week, but as yet have had no success. Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Nap’s Jr. Hi gridders open their season by playing host to Concord’s Jr. Hi. Coaches Cal Stutzman and Ron Fields have tabbed the following boys to see plenty of action in this game: Ends Dave Callander and Melvin Dean; tackles Duncan Sinclair and Alan Slagle; guards Fred Fisher and Bruce Adkins; center Jim Snider; quarterback Tom Greene; halfbacks Jim Deardorff and Tom Evans; fullback Ted Fricke. Also slated for action is quarterback Louis Swihart, and Rod Miller, Jim Stillson, Jan Weldy, Don Berger, Tim Price, and Kent and Kurt Stump.
