“The Miracle” was given by Joan Karen Dausman, Stanley Noffsinger, Sally Umbaugh, Evelyn Anglemyer, Larry Andrews, Donna Slabaugh, Gary Croy, Keith Blosser, Tom Mishler, Bob Miller,
Wayne Anglemyer, and Allen Wysong. Following the play, Larry Andrews, youth chairman presented in behalf of the. Youth group anew Kimball piano to the church. Dan Snider, church moderator, accepted the piano fbr the church. The dedicatory prayer was given by Rev. Noffsinger. The piano was bought largely from the youth commitment program. About 40 youth from the Union Center church went Christmas caroling Sunday evening. A fellowship at the church was enjoyed after the caroling. BAPTISMAL SERVICE An impressive baptismal service was held at the Union Center church Sunday morning. There were six applicants for baptism and one received by letter. Christmas Sunday morning the children of the Union Center church will sing during the service. Dallas Burkholder ‘ children will give special music. The “Sock Tree” which has been at the church for several weeks and many pairs of socks have been added will be dedicated this Christmas as well as the layettes and yard goods collected and made by the Women’s work. MRS. HARTER HAS STROKE Mrs. Elmer Harter suffered a stroke Sunday at the home of her son Walter, north of Wakarusa. Both Mr. and Mrs. Harter have been in poor health and have been moved to the son’s home who is caring for them. Waneta Darkwood will spend Christmas with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Darkwood from Friday to Monday evening. Waneta is in volunteer service in Harrisburg, Pa., working with underprivileged children. She has visited over one thousand homes encouraging parents to have their children take advantage of the x-ray mobile unit. She has 60 children divided in groups that meet each evening after school for handwork and educational program. Some of the groups of the nion Center school have presented gifts to Waneta to use in her work with these children. Junior leaders and officers of the Union Busy Bees plan to meet at the home of Mrs. Lloyd .Darkwood to plan the year’s program on Dec. 28 at 1:30 p. m. the wadding of Ludwig Elsgrnber, an Agriculture Economics professor at Purdue and Eva Kaliah, a student at Purdue. In 1950 Mr. Eisgruber, was an exchange student and lived in the home of Rev. and Mrs. Mark Schrock. The wedding was held Dec. 17 at the St. Thomas church in West Lafayette and the reception was held at Fowler Hotel in West Lafayette. Mr. Eisgruber considered the Mark; Schrock family his parents and Mrs. Frederick his grandmother. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Stouder and daughter of Fort Wayne were supper guests last Wednesday evening of Mr. and Mrs* Vem Cripe. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Cripe called on Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cripe and Lizzie Miller of Goshen on Sunday afternoon. On Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. Harold Geil from Cassopolis, Mich., called on the Cripes. Other callers last week were Chester Frenger, Mrs. George Sheets, Mr. and Mrs. Miltenberger, Osceola, Harold L. Umbaugh and John Pippenger. Mr. and Mrs. George Reed called on Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Gerou at the Earl Shumaker home, Wakarusa. Mr. and Mrs. Gerou are the parents of a daughter, Tya Marie, born Dec. 15. Mrs. Gerou is the daughter of the Earl Shumaker’s. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Kuhn and children Julia and Michael of Bremen were supper guests Saturday evening of Mrs. Kuhn’s parents Mr. and Mrs. George Reed. Callers at the George Reeds Sunday were Mrs. Charles Tobias and Jasper and Charles Disher. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Reed were dinner guests of his parents Mr. and Mrs. George Reed on Sunday. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Martin and family Sunday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Brubaker and family, Herman Martins and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Ramer, Irvin Martins and family, and Ora Millers.
CHRISTMAS PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Anglemyer and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Culp attended the annual Christmas party of the Willing Workers Class of the United Missionary church at Wakarusa which was held at the Zion Youth and Fellowship House in Elkhart last Monday night. Alice Culp visited Joan and John Anglemyer the same evening. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mast and family visited Mr. and Mrs. David Mast at Middlebury on Sunday. Mrs. Noah Burkholder, Anna Burkholder, Mrs. Albert Kuhns all from Ayr, Mrs. Joe Hostettler and Mrs. Andrew Mast, Nappanee attended the funeral of Mary Bon-' trager last Friday afternoon at the Elva Lehman home. Mrs. Bontrager was 90 years old. The mid-week meeting will be held at the Bethel church on Thursday evening this week. Baskets of food will be distributed on Wednesday night. Rev. Lewis Kauffman, Middlebury, was the speaker at the Bethel church on Sunday evening. Young people’s chorus, whose members are from Bethel, Griner, Town Line and Pleasant Grove Mennonite churches, gave -a program in the Caanan Baptist church in Elkhart Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Sheets called on Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Anglemyer and children last Tuesday evening. CHRISTMAS DINNER Sixty-eight members of the Cora Shaum . Stahly family attended their annual Christmas dinner at the Union Center school on Sunday, Dec. 18. Mrs. D. I. Stahly, the mother, was unable to attend. Those present were Mr. and Mrs.

Mrs. Dwight Newcomer, Wakarusa, entertained for Ida Newcomer, who was celebrating her 74th birthday.
