Humane Society Lays Foundation •f New Shelter First stage of a ccqwty-wide building fund campaign was launched by Elkhart County Humane Society with tho mailing nf letters to all business concerns in the county. The letters appealed for donations to kelp meet the society’s goal of $70,000 to construct anew animal shelter on county road 13, a mile east of Dunlap. The 18% acre site has been purchased by the society and the foundation has been laid. The new building will replace the present quarters, which have grown inadequate as a result of the increased number of animals requiring care. The present site, located on bypass road 112, will be sold to kelp finance the new buildi&g. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph St Rgsin announce that the second stage of the drive will begin in January with special fund raising projects, a fashion show, dances, pet show, and an animal antics carnival. The third and final stage beginning in February, will consist of a massive door-to-door can. vassing campaign. It is hoped that every household in Elkhart County will be contacted. Mr. and Mrs. Rasin pointed out that the society is not a member of any other fund raising organization. The total amount needed must be met entirely by public subscription. , To date, the society Jias been handicapped by a lack of volunteer workers, to assist in the fund raising campaign. Anyone interested in assisting can contact the society at its present location. CAMP FIRE MEETING First year Camp Fire groups* under leadership of Mesdames LaMar Reed, Karl Freese jr., and Virgil Ingraham, were guests of He-Wi-Gi group last week in the Methodist, church. Marcia Wiseman was in charge of arrangements, and Mrs. Russel Bolyard, taught the new groups Camp Fire songs. Mrs. Wilfred Wise is leader of the hostess group. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Stump, the senior Virgil Stumps, and Minnie Blanchard of Goshen called on Mrs. Rose gtuckman at Orn nursling home, Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Stump, Dale Stump and Dave Stump were Thanksgiving dinner guests of QUie McDonald.
