Leroy Helmuth family and Elmer Slabaugh family spent Friday evening at Ora Mast home near- Etna Green. Mrs. Laurel Haines spent Saturday with Mrs. Nick Plank in Goshen, where the Planks moved last week from Nappanee. Leroy Helmuth family attended the rally at Union Grove church Sunday. Communion services were held for Mrs. Henry Kauffman in her home Sunday evening. Present were, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Yoder, Emma Schwartz, Mr, and Mrs. Jake Mast, the John Yoders, Ervin Millers, Steven Yoder, Harvey Hochstetlers, Amzy Yoders, Milo Yoder, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller spent last week in Michigan on a fishing trip. Mrs. Noble Sietz, Mrs. Willis I. Yoder, and Mrs. Eli I. Miller spent Thursday in Middlebury. A carngin-dinner at the Floyd Ramer for his former Sunday School class and families was attended by Edjvin Ramers of Wakarusa, Harvey Millers, Paul Snyders, Levi Chupps, Issac Weavers, Earl Bontragers, Lawrence Wengers and Ray Yoder. Goshen. M. Sheets and Boh called on the Harold McAfees at Bourbon Sunday. Freeman D. Yoders and daughters and the- Clarence J. Chupps of White Cloud, Mich, had supper Saturday with Willis Chupp family near Shipshewana. Mrs. Edna Stutzman and Donny, and Ell Chupp were also there. The Yoders took the Chupps to Mishawaka for the birthday party of Mike Chupp, 3, son of the James C. Chupps. Fred Chupp family of South Bend and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Chupp and daughter of Milford were also there. A surprise birthday supper was held for Mrs j Dan P. Yoder Sunday evening. Present were Mrs. Victor Agramonte and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman D. Yoder and daughters* Lydia Ann and Amelia Yoder, Wilma Yoder and Raymond Miller. Communion will be held iat Salem Sunday morning. Evening service will be by Lloyd Miller and Bob Gerber on Pax service. Entertain School Personnel from Harrison Twp. Harrison Twp. school personnel, including husbands and wives of faculty members, cooks, custodian, office girl, Carol Hoover, Principal and Mrs. Doyle G. Swanson, Trustee and Mrs. Warren C. Wenger, y County Superintendent and Mrs. Clyde B. Sutton recently enjoyed a fellowship dinner m the B&B banquet room at Nappanee. After the meal, they were entertained in the home of Mrs. Helen Ganshorn, third grade teacher. The evening was spent informally, with visiting organ and piano music and singing.

It contains records and grades of pupils which were copied on report cards each month. Also a number of programs given in 1921 at Hasting School to an over crowded attendance. There are treasured years to him and Mrs. Weldy, and to many more who will be reading this. Girls would work in secret for weeks to make the most beautiful box for the social in the school house, following an entertaining, usually a comedy program which everyone attended. Mace Hollar was often the auctioneer and proceeds went to the school treasurer. One time proceeds were used to buy a modern set of maps for classes, which Mrs. Robert Rumfelt bought at the sale for a keepsake, when the school was closed in 1946. The students were all so proud of them. After the box supper the boys took home the girl whose box they bought. Sometimes if the boy Just was npt the right one, the parents would hang around to take the disgusted girl home. In looking through the treasurer’s report, (he was “Teacher”) I find some of the expenditures were for prizes for the prettiest girl, biggest baby, doll, biggest mouth, orle dozen song books, Red Cross fund, balls and bats, mask, candles, and key.
