Bride Designs Own Gown at Rhoade i ji. £ v j . k * - '•* Pippenger Rites In a church decorated with pink gladioli and palms, Mary Alice \ Pippenger became the bride of, James Lee Rhoade Sunday after noon in Union Center Church of the Brethren. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Ross L. Noffsinger before 15C guests. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Pippenger of R 3, Nappanee, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rhoade of R 2. Bremen. Organ selections were played by Carol Jane Hood, of Flora, cousin of the bride, Vonda Wysong, Nappanee, sang. The bride designed and made her own dress, a floor length gown of silk organza fashioned with a round neckline, and short sleeves.

Norma Jean Root, Bradford, Ohio, was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Belva Jane Aten, Ashland, Ohio, ahd Margaret Sue Pippenger, sister of the bride. They wore street length dresses of blue chiffon, fashioned with a princess panel in front, short sleeves and round necklines. Matching headbands, and white baskets of pink carnations completed their outfits. Flower girl was Pamela Hinton, niece of the groom from Mishawaka, who also wore blue chiffon and carried a floral arrangement. The groom was attended by David Fike of Toledo, Ohio, as best man and groomsmen Donald Rush of Mentone, and Max Loxley of New Madison, O. Guests were seat-

After a wedding trip to Kentucky, the couple will be at home at 807 Maple Row, Elkhart. The bride is a 1960 graduate of Manchester college and will teach home economics in Concord high school. The groom, also a graduate of Manchester college in 1958, is now a credit investigator with Dun and Bradstreet, Inc. L F. Widmoyers Visit Daughter A Family In Texas Drs. L. F. and Bernice Widmoyer and son, Rod, left Saturday by car to attend Texas State Chiropractic convention at the Shamrock hotel in Houston, June 9-10-11, when they will display their chiropractic tables and equipment. They will then spend two weeks with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lou Rymkus and twin sons, Pat and Mike, in Houston. Mr. Rymkus is now head coach of the Houston Oilers professional football team in the new American league. He played eight years with the Cleveland Browns, was assistant coach four years with Green Bay Packers and two years with Los Angeles Rams. He left the Rams two months ago for his present position. Congress is adequate proof that women don’t do ALL the talking.

Wright saw their granddaughter, the former Sally Gerber of South Bend, receive her masters degree. MRS. L. CHRISTOPHEL WOMAN'S CLUB PRESIDENT Nappanee Woman’s club had a carry-in luncheon at the Syracuse lake cottage of Mrs. Willard Naylor for their last meeting of the season Tuesday. Mrs. Lewis Christophel was elected president, Mrs. J. D. R. Schwartz, vice president; Mrs. Miller Uline, secretary-treasurer, assisted by Mrs. Ferril Miller; Mrs. Ivan Miller, corresponding secretary; and Clara Gray, critfc. Fifteen members answered roll call with comments on current fashion trends. An achievement certificate has been presented to the club by CARE for contributions made thru Indiana State Federation of Women’s Clubs. CHILDREN'S DAY PROGRAM AT FIRST BRETHREN SUNDAY Children’s Day will be observed with a special program Sunday morning in First Brethren church. Recitations and musical numbers will be presented by each department with all the children participating. Mrs. George Sheets Will give a flannel-graph story and young people will have charge of music and worship. The combined service, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. will be concluded with a short talk by the pastor, Rev. Virgil Ingraham. Visitors of Ezra Hershberger Saturday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Andy C. HOUSE-WARMING GIVEN AT CHARLES MIKEL HOME Monday evening, neighbors and friends gave a surprise house warming at the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mikel, south oi Nappanee on Rt 19. Ice cream, cake and cookies were served to the Warren Brocks, Harold Craigs, Raymond Wise family, Devon Moore family, the Jesse Klotzes, Howard Boettgei family, Merlin Yoder family, the Dick Heplers, Clayton Blessings, the Dick Mikels and Randy, Merl Mikels, the Herman Georges, Mrs. Ed Monhaut, the Harve Moores, Richard Blessings, Walter Mikels, Fred Heplers and Florence, Ricfhard Mikels and Peggy, Mrs. Lawrence Mikel and girls. “Each wished the Mikels much happiness in their new home,” one of the guests said. “And it was an evening that Will be long remembered.” SAM MARTIN TO TEACH AT WAKARUSA SCHOOL Samuel Martin, sixth grade teacher at South school, will teach next year at Wakarusa school. He states that his teaching salary for next year on the Nappanee scale would be $4554 and on the Wakarusa school it is $5050, an increase ol $496 per year.
