Mrs. John Applegate Iconise Golden entertained Active Ladies Club Wednesday and read the poem. "Grandpa’s Wood Stove” for 'meditation. Lois George gave the history of the song of the month, “Wearing of the Green.” A skit on census taking was given and roll call was answered by each lady giving her opinion on making a will. Myrtle Thomas presented several contests and the hostess served gelatin: salad, devils food cake and coffee. A guest meeting with potluck dinner at 1,11:30 will be held April 13 at the home of Ola Klotz, Present at the March meeting were Mary Dishiler, Gladys Grimm, Myrtle Thomas, Mary Miller, Ola Klotz, Ada Jones, Louise Golden, Lorene Harman, Lois George, Marialyce Moore and Shirley Golden. Sandra Yoder played a piano solo and Edith Hepiler gave a reading at Mt. Tabor Church service Sunday morning. Rev. Burcham spoke on “Pilate’s Question”. The Burchams sang “When the Saints Come Marching In” "At the evening service. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sechrist and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hepler were Saturday evening dinner guests of Lloyd Heplers, celebrating the birthday of Mrs. Sechrist. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd A. Weaver were evening callers. All enjoyed a color movie of the Tournament of Roses parade at Pasadena, Calif., which Charles took on New Years Day. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Myers spent Thursday evening with Lloyd Miller family, near Bourbon, and Saturday afternoon with Kenneth HartzeJls of Union Center. Mrs. Bower read scripture, Mrs. Fred Hepler sang “Master the Tempest is Raging,” Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gay and Mr. and Mrs. Don Yeiter sang two songs, and Mrs. Floyd Hepler gave the reading, “Her Busy Day.” “Where Our Tax Money Goes” and “Who Gives the Subsidy” were discussed. Harold Gawthrops and Lester Williams’s served cup cakes, coffee and chocolate milk. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sechrist spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Myers, Delbert, and Mrs. Dave Sechrist. Marjorie George called on Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Cain Saturday evening. TOO MANY HOMES In a letter from Frank Phelps of Santa Cruz, Calif., he states, “In regard to those sugar prunes, they are a thing of the past out in the Santa Clara Valley where I got them. Those orchards have all been uprooted and thousands upon thousands of homes built on the old orchard sites. I blame you eastern folks for this situation. If you would discourage you friends and neighbors from deserting their homes back there, we could still have our orchards, which are now gone forever.” Monday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Chance Thomas and Walter Thomas visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray Thomas to hear about their three week trip to Arizona. They made their headquarters at the Avery Sumpten home. Mr. and Mrs. Landis Cain, Bonnie and Linda had supper Friday with Chance Thomases. Elmer Krou family were entertained by Willard Higgins family Sunday . Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stackhouse and Joy had a dinner honoring Eugene Anthony’s birthday Friday evening. LADIES AID Mrs. Dallas Hartzell entertained Millwood Chapel Ladies Aid Wednesday. “Blessed Assurance” and “When We All Get to Heaven” were sung, Mrs. Hartzell read Romans 13 and Mrs. Walter Harman offered prayer. Roll call was answered by naming a Bible character and his occupation. Thought for the day was “All God’s giants have been weak men who did great things for God becaused they reckoned on his being with them.” The missionary lesson on "Salome, the Ambitious Mother,” tvas given by Dorothy Klotz. Mrs. Virgil Davidhizar read an article by Dr. Bob Pierce who recently visited Russia. Benediction was by Mrs. Devon Hartzell. Chocolate cake, fruit salad, coffee, tea and mints were served to 12 members, one visitor and five children. Janice Braden spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Robert O. MOON ECLIPSE A cloudless sky made viewing of the total eclipse of the moon perfect Sunday morning at about 2:40 by moon-gazers of all ages, as well as romantic young people who normally are about the only ones who see the moon in the middle of the night Lois Herr was hostess at Camp Creek Ladies Aid last week. Knotting a comfort was the project. Nine ladies and four children also enjoyed the potluck dinner. Robert Bolen family of Mishawaka and Betty Skaggs had dinner Sunday with Mrs. Dewey Jones.
