Pr ipeirty Taxes More than Twice 1! Years Ago Pn-perty fax levies sought by local govern mental officials would increase taxes $70,290,630 next year, according to an estimate made by Walter T. Horn, executive secretary of Indiana Taxpayers Association. This would bring the State’s property tax bill to an estims ed $494 millions for 1960. “In our study of governmental budgets from all parts of the stat ,” Mr. Horn explained, “we hav been surprised to find that the county general fund taxes for the entire state will show surprising increases unless the advertised bud ?ets are drastically cut. County general fund levies made last yea , for payment this year, ami unted to $35,114,780. The advertised budgets for county general finds next year are 41.7 per cent higner than this year’s total. This wi] amoun:; to almost $50,000,000 in his one classification. It is true that general elections are to be hel 1 next year but the election experse will be but a small part of the increases sought.” Ir. Horn pointed out that the pr. posed increases in county gener. 1 funds do not include the manda ory 25-cent levy which 1959 General Assembly imposed on all Indiana counties for public school purposes. This, he said, will raise $18,750,000 more taxes for schools. "Unless taxpayers protest vigorously, they will be paying next year more than double what they were compelled to pay less than te i years ago.” One difference between workir | for money and marrying for it is that working keeps you ensl ved only 40 hours per week. One person of each 20 to 25 is n<. rmally left-handed. NOTICE OF EXECUTOR’S SALE OF PERSONAL PROPERTY STATE OF INDIANA ) ) SS: COUNTY OF ELKHART ) IN THE MATTER OF THE ESTATE OF CORA E. PHILLIPS.
