Guests were Willis Martins, Truman Martin family, Louise Martin., Leon Martin family, Goshen, Leßoy Culp family, Syracuse, Marion Martins, Middlebury, Mildied, Mattie and Vivian Mantin, the Clifford Culps, Elkhart, Eugene Martins, Joyce Culp family and Dean Culp of Taylor university, who is spending the week at home with Victor Culps. Mr. and Mrs! Lewis Ernest of Elkhart were also there. James Reed family, Woodland, and Lowell Kuhn family, Bremen, dined Sunday with the George Reeds. The Glenn Holdermans and Dick, Wakarusa, and Gordon Millinger, New Paris, dined Sunday with Stahly Weldys. That evening the Holdermans and Weldys visited the Orville Kalibs at Middlebury. Kenneth Mattems of Elkhart had evening lunch Sunday with Harold Mattems. Harvey M. Miller family spent Labor Day evening with Earl Bontragers. Mr. and Mrs. Herschal Yoder, Ligonier, were guests of his mother, Mrs. Alvin J. Yoder Sunday and took her out to dinner. Rev. and Mrs. Richard Yoder, Goshen, called in the evening. The Joseph Millers dined Sunday at Ervin Burkholders. Others there were the Henry Yoders and Fannie, Mabel and Richard Burkholder. VISITORS FROM EAST Mrs. Charles B. Hoober and son of Ronks, Pa., spent the weekend with her sister, Isaac Weaver family and left for home Sunday. Bertha Huber and Earla Hoover of Pennsylvania also called Sunday. Callers last week of Mr. and Mrs. Freenman Yoder to see the baby were Mrs. Leßoy Helmuth and Margaret, Elizabeth Miller, Lillian Smeltzer, Mary Jean Haines and Sandra. Visitors Sunday were the Christ Mast family of Goshen and the Daniel P. Yoders. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Weaver, Elkhart, dined Sunday with the Henry Weavers. The Chester Frengers, Union Center, called Thursday evening. Mrs. Henry Weaver had supper Sunday with Clifford Lutes family, Nappanee. Eddie Slabaugh spent Sunday with Levi J. Chupp family. Mrs. Leßoy Helmuth, HOME FROM HOSPITAL Brian Shriner, ZVfe year old son of Lester Shriners, north pf Locke school, was brought home last week from Elkhart hospital after treatment for severe head injuries. Stahly were the Roy Shaums, Mrs. Charlotte Salee, Steven and Amy, the Ray Weldys, Elkhart, Mrs. Florence Meller, Mrs. Blanche Rice, Mrs. John Rummel, Pearl Rummel, South Bend, George Busses, Frank Shaums, Lowell Hartmans and Steven. Mr. and Mrs. George Smeltzer, near Elkhart, called Friday. Elmer A. Stut2mans went to Kokomo Sunday to see the Joe Gingeriehs, Oscar Gingerich family and Ed Ottos. MISSIONARIES HERE Rev. and Mrs. Colin Blair, missionaries to Pakistan, were guests Wednesday and Thursday last week of Junior Pletcher family. Rev. Blair spoke at Nappanee Revival Center Wednesday evening. The couple expects to return to Pakistan the last of this month. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Long and Charles attended dedication service of the new Mennonite church at Osecola Sunday, where Mr. Long’s brother, Rev. Maurice Long, is the pastor. Magdalene Otto, Lydiann and Amelia D. Yoder, spent Saturday evening with Laura Miller, west of Nappanee. Sunday afternoon the four girls called on Elizabeth Mast at the John Chupp home. Jacob Kuhns family, Grantham, Pa., were guests at Locke church Sunday. Mr. Kuhns was a deacon of the church when the family lived in this area. Centrevtlle Fair To Open Monday For Six Day Run Next, week, Sept 21 thru 26 will be Centreville Fair week to many Nappanee folks, who never miss the popular Michigan event which has as its proper name the St. Joseph County Fair. The fair is rated in the top three in the state of Michigan and among the best in the midwest. The nightly grandstand show, racing and farm exhibits always draw big crowds from this entire area. The program is printed in this week’s Advance-News. Mr. and Mrs. Moses Mishler, Dunlap, and her mother, Mrs. David Christner, near Wakarusa, called on Lizzie Mishler Saturday evening.

How?” Evening service at 7:00 p.m. .will be devoted to the interests of youth, including a workshop and discussion on the theme “Planning for our Youth.’ A special service for youth leaders and other interested adults will be held Monday at 7:30 p.m., Rev. Lersoh illustrating his message by filmstrip, posters and displays built around the theme: “Reaching Our Youth in the Responsive Years”. A fellowship hour will follow Monday’s service.

Carlyle Weltys were noon guests Sunday of Wayne Weltys in Nappanee and they all called on the Jay Weltys to see their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hendershot, who are enroute to Alaska to work for two years in a hospital. She is a trained nurse and he is a pharmacist. MOVE TO NAPPANEE Othel Keplers and their six daughters moved to Nappanee last week at 656 E. Lincoln. Their telephone number is 6831-X. Their son, Richard, who is away, plans to be home soon. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Tiny’ Furney and three sons and a daughter, Goshen, moved into the home vacated by the Heplers. New Pastor To Bo Installed Sunday at First Menn. First Mennonite church will have an installation and commissioning service Sunday morning for Gordon Dyck, the new pastor. Rev. E. S. Mullett, former pastor and present member of the church will have charge of devotions. Dr. J. J. Enz, also a former pastor and now professor of Old Testament at the Mennonite Biblical Seminary at Elkhart, will give the charge to the pastor. Rev. J. N. Smucker of Goshen, editor of General Conference weekly Church paper, will present the charge to the congregation. Rev. Smueker’s grandfather was one of the founding ministers of Nappanee congregation 84 years ago,. Rev. R. L. Hartzler of Bloomington, 111., executive secretary of Central District Conference, will perform the rites of installation and licensing. Elden Schrock, chairman of the church board, will receive Mr. and Mrs. Dyck as members into church fellowship. Mr. Dyck is a graduate of Bethel College, Newton, Kansas and of Mennonite Biblical Seminary at Elkhart. He has served two years as an executive assistant in the Mennonite relief office at Akron, Pa., and as a unit leader of young men serving in a hospital at Evanston, 111. He also has been active in the youth organization of General Conference. Mr. and Mrs. Dyck came from their home state of Kansas and are living at Vhe parsonage at 558 W. Centennial.
Rev Walter Black New Pastor at Pilg. Holiness Rev. Walter H. Black is the new pastor of Pilgrim Holiness church and he and his wife, Velma and two children, Carolyn 15, and Sharon, 13, moved into the parsonage at 202 W. Walnut last Saturday, coming from Huntington. The Blacks also have a married son, Norman. The former pastor, Rev. C. M. Jones has accepted a church at Windfall. There was a farewell for the Jones— at the parsonage Friday evening with many gifts presented to them. Ice cream and cake was served. Tuesday evening, the congregation gave a supper and pound party at the parsonage in honor of the new pastor and his family. Rev. Black is a graduate of Frankfort Pilgrim college. Hugh Hendershots Here on Way To Alaska Hospital Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hendershot arrived Saturday at the home of her parents, the Jay Weltys, from Washington D.C. After a weeks vacation, in Nappanee the Hendershots plan to go to Sitka, Alaska where they will be both employed by Mt. Edgecumbe hospital, she as a nurse, and he as a pharamacist. They plan to be gone two years. Sitka is located in the southern part of Alaska. The hospital is on a small island and the only other building is a school. It will be necessary for them to take a boat for a short distance to get to the larger town. Luncheon guests Saturday evening at the Welty home were Mr. and Mrs. Morris Pippenger. Guests Sunday were Donald Welty family, Etna Green; Wilbur Weltys, Benton; Wayne Weltys and Brian, and Carlyle Weltys and Brent of Nappanee. Six Department citations were given the Nappanee ur t:, Madlin Culp for enrolling “9 for 5&”; for membership exceeding qu"ta; to Pearl Callander for sth plsce in the Department Distinguished Woman of the Year project (Nappanee was the only unit in 3rd District to send in a name). Also a citation for the best tioial security program in the district with a personal gift to Geneva Dean, unit chairman, from Department Chairman Amy Lee Coultas; also for obtaining the average grade of 94 percent; and a Citation for Century Club member to Mildr: and Parks, with a Century Club pin from the national president.
