FRIENDSHIP CHAIN Union Center Church of the Brethren began a six-week chain of friendship visitation schedule Feb. 2. Youth of Union Center church will meet Sunday evening at the Charles Slaihaugh home for concluding study in courtship and marriage. A school of missions study of church and race will begin .Sunday evening by Union Center at the Twp. school. There are classes for ell ages. Junior high group plans a trip to South Bend Sunday afternoon to visit a Jewish synagogue and a Catholic church. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hahn, Phil, David and Holly attended the Slabaugh - Yoder wedding at Goshen 3th St. church Saturday evening. Mrs. Ezra Brubacher Petoskey, Mich., spent several days last week with the Sidney Brubachers. QUILTING PARTY Mrs. Nathan Ramer, northwest of here, entertained at a quilting Tuesday Mrs. Ezra Brubacher, Petoskey, Mich., Mrs. Joe Martin, Wakarusa, Mrs. Sidney Brubacher, Mrs. James Bechtel, Mrs. Daniel Martin, Nauruan .Martin, Mrs. Clayton Brubacher, Mrs. Allen Martin and several children. Young people of Bethel Conservative Mennonite church joined other young people of Conservative congregations for a birthday surprise for Loyd Troyer east of Goshen, Sunday. IMandiie Miller was a dinner guest of Catherine Sohrock at the t,°Rnv Schrock home Sunday at Southwest. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Gripe visited Ivan Marti sr. family at Nappanee Sunday. Guests Sunday of Dallas Burkholder family were the Glenn Fliekingers, Wakarusa, Mr. and Mrs. Mart Mishler, Judy and Karen Dausman, Mrs. Marilyn Davis and children. • Mrs. Sarah Miller and Mrs. Harvey X. Miller attended the public sale of the Mrs. Mary Arm Thomas estate. Sarah Miller and Mrs. Thomas were sisters. Bethel Church had a congregational song service Sunday evening. Their sewing is at Pleasant Grove this Wednesday. ATTENDANCE UP Principal Walter Mumaw reported an increase of attendance of Union Twd. school from 300 to 304. Four Detwiler children bevan as new pupils Monday. Arlene Miller moved away and Randrt Duke was transferred to Nappanee school. Mr. Mumaw stated five or six more are expected to be added before close of school. Neal Miller family moved west of Goshen recently. Mrs. Elmer Helmuth and 1 her sister, Mary Burkholder, called on their parents, the Emanuel Burkholders' near Etna Green, Saturday. Alllie Iffert .and Johnny MarkflLey of Goshen, spent the weekend with Mrs. Grover Bowman. Mrs. Howard Markley and children, Goshen were there for supper, Sunday. Mrs. Elmer Helmuth entertained Bob. Merven, Martha and Jim Helmuth and Lester and Maihlon Helmuth at dinner Wednesday, in honor of. the birthday of her sister. Marv Burkholder. YWOS YODER- 98, BREAKS ARM IN FALL Amos Yoder, who was 93 last August, fell Saturday afternoon in the bam at Manasses Millers, west of town, where he made his home for many years. He was taken to Elkhart hospital by ambulance for x-rays and observation that evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ben A. Kauffman and children were luncheon guests of ih-er parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aden Kauffman, Middlabury, Sunday. Mrs. Roy Herr, northeast of Nappanee, spent Friday at the home of her daughter, Mr, and (Mrs. Richard Piippen.
