NOTICE To the taxpayers of Union Township, Elkhart County, Indiana. You are hereby notified that fffOa the 29th day of June 1954, that the Trustee A Advisory Board of the Union Township, Hlkhart County, Indiana, by resolution duly adopted and pursuant to notice theretofore given and under and by virtue of Chapter 57 of the Acts of the 84th General Assembly of the State of Indiana, approved February 27, 1945, as amended, duly adopted a plan whereby a cumulative building fund be provided for the erection, construction, purchase and remodeling of school buildings, purchase of real estate, and the purchase of equipment, the payment of rentals for renting or leasing of real estate for school buildings, and the levying of an additional tax in said school unit, and that such a fund be provided for by a tax levy of SI.OO on each SIOO.OO of assessed valuation on all property in that taxing district taxable for such purposes, such tax to be assessed beginning with the levy for 1954 payable in 1955 and annually thereafter for a total period of one years as provided by said Act. Final approval of the aforementioned resolution by the State Board of Tax Commissioners, will invalidate any previous tax rate which has heretofore been approved for this purpose. That pursuant to said Act, any ten or more taxpayers in the taxing district of Union Township, Elkhart County, Indiana, other than those who pay Poll Tax only, may file a petition with the County Auditor of Elkhart County, Indiana, not later than ten days after this publication, setting forth their objections to such proposed levy. Mr. and Mrs. John Wallace attended a surprise birthday party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Byrer at Bourbon, Sunday evening, for Mrs. Byrer’s birthday. Linda Surnmy was bitten on the face by a dog at the home of a friend near Pierceton, Sunday. Mrs. Ed Bickel of Silver Lake, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Klinger and sons. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Rohrer and son of South Bend, spent Thursday and Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rohrer. Mrs Homer Anglin called on Mr,, and Mrs. Oral Lutes at Nappanee, Sunday eveening. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Wray and daughter of Ft. Wayne, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Graydon Powell. BRIDAL SHOWER FOR ALICE JOAN SLABAUGH Mrs. Clifford Neff, assisted by Elaine Neff and Theda Snyder, gave a miscellaneous bridal shower last Wednesday for Alice Joan Slabaugh, who marries Clell Hartman jr. Aug. 20 in Union Center church. The honoree received a corsage of yellow carnations and prizes from the games’. The color scheme was yellow and silver with a theme of “weddings bells." Clarence Smith has been on the sick list the past week with sitisMrs. Cleo Guise and Mrs. Ellen Robison, spent one day last week with their mother, Mrs. Anna Thomas. Recent callers of Mrs. Merl Croy and infant son, Roger, were the Leo Croys, Don Yeiters, Alvin Wislers, Marvin ~ Overholsers, Charles Croys, Clarence Mishlers, Lloyd Mishlers, Theron Kirkendorffers and several other neighbors. Mrs. Ervin Hall had major surgery at Goshen hospital, Saturday. H. V. Welker family, of Bippus, were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sharp. Their son, who spent the week here, accompanied them home. Robert Stump dined one day last week with his mother, Mrs. Virgil Stump. Week-end guests were Eldon Stump, Mrs. Frances Dallman, Carol DeFrees, Shirley Miller, Meri Croy and Garry and Donald Losee. Ladies of the Dunkard Brethren church met one night last week and canned around 50 qtof green beans for the old peoples home at Mexico, Ind.
