An expedition found that the big leaf, called “cauassu," had been serving the natives as sea-going shelters, according to researchers for Johnson’s wax. It also served as a wrap ping material for foodstuffs and for weaving baskets for fishermen. Food Needs If the U.S. population reaches 190 million in the next 25 years, as expected, the food crop increase needed must come through better crops, management, conservation and better livestock. On the basis of present yields, the country would need as much more land under cultivation as Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin together. Airmen’s Armor Body armor for aviators has turned the wheel of warfare back to the days of King Arthur. Today’s armor consists of a thin sheet of aluminum backed by several-ply nylon. Neither the aluminum nor the nylon alone would be strong enough to stop a shell fragment or a small-caliber bullet; together, they are nearly impenetrable.
