ELKHART VOTERS FAVOR CUTS XN FOREIGN AID AND FARM SPENDING Washington, May 22—(Special to The Advance-News) Citizens of Elkhart county and the Third Indiana District are overwhelmingly in favor of cutting the Federal budget by reducing expenditures for foreign nid and farm assistance programs^ However, they draw the line at any economies in our flood control program and are evenly divided on the wisdom of making any cuts in appropriations for our armed forces. ' ' These facts were revealed today in a report by Congressman ISlfapard J. Crumpacker, Jr., on the final results /of the Third District Opinion Poll. Based on a tabulation of 12,616 .ballots received from voters in Elkhart. St. Joseph, LaiPorte and Marshall counties, the poll reveals that: Cl) Reduction in foreign aid spending are favored by .84 per cent of those voting. (2) Only 49 per cent voted to reduce expenditures for the armed forces. Among Elkhart county voters a majority favor such cuts. (3) Three out every four voters believe that farm spending should be reduced. (4) Two out of every three persons oppose cuts in flood control and power projects. The recent midwest floods affected voting on this last question. Congressman Crumpacker said, with many voters commenting that flood control was needed. but that power development should be left to private enterprize. Poll ballots are still coming in, the Congressman said and today’s tabulation includes approximately 3,800 bo Hots from residents of Nappanee. Goshen, Elkhart and Elkhart county. € ATTRACTIONS COMING TO FAIRY THEATRE DURING COMING WEEK 0
Friday and Saturday nights of this week jthe double feature bill at the Fairy theatre include “Behave Yourself”, starring Farley Granger and Shelly Winters and “Flaming Feathers” with a cast of real western players. A white man as leader of a renegade tribe of Indians starts trouble which must be finished and a lone rancher decides to do something about it in this western. The first picture deals with a newly married couple and the troubles which develop through a gangster mob —a dog being the key to the whole affair as the bride takes the dog to be a wedding present and the animal really is worth' to the gang in carrying on a racket. Full of fun and thrills for both young and old. Sunday through Tuesday Tony Martin, Janet Leigh and Gloria DeHaven and assisted by an all star cast brings to life “Two Tickets to Broadway,” a rousing musical comedy presented by Howard Hughes. The romance of a pair of young people in a fight for recognition on Broadway as they try to get a start in business “at the top” motivates the gay plot. Robert Mitchum and Lizabeth Scott in “The Racket” shows on Wednesday and Thursday of next , This picture shows the lunholy alliance between organized crime and public officials and is of timely interest as the wave of resentment is sweeping the country today in a fight against organized crime. •

Most of the time, only two of these barrels are needed—and they feed such a thrifty mixture that you use less gaso% line at 40 mph than you’d formerly use at 30. / But— when you want a quick burst of eager power —you can double the air supply as well as the gasoline feed—and come up with the highest horsepower that Buick’s Fireball 8 Engine ever - delivered. Os course, any man who’s buying a car as fine as a Roadmaster wants a lot more than extra miles from a tankful of gas. He wants the distinction of extra room, extra comfort, richer fabrics and all the other refinements that make a car truly fine.
