SEVERAL HUNDRED ATTEND CLINIC AT GYM ON LAST FRIDAY EVENING Several hundered basketball fans attended the clinic at the Community building last Friday evening to get a pre-season glimpse of tne 1948-49 edition of the Bulldogs and to have the new rules explained to them. Ira Phillips and Dean Geyer explained the rule changes and demonstrated the rules that would influence the game this winter. Coach Dec Mummert had about fifty boys in uniform, starting with youngsters in the fourth grade and continuing up to his varsity squad. The boys participated in a scrimmage session for the entertainment of the fans present. AGED BREMEN MAN DIES FROM INJURIES SATURDAY NIGHT Jesse C. Van Skyhowk, 78, of Bremen, was fatally injured Saturday night when he was struck by a car driven by Ernest Weber, also of Bremen. The driver was not held responsible in that the aged man stepped from behind a parked car directly in the path of the oncoming car. Mr. Skyhawk had lived hi Bremen all of his life. FINE OF $25 AND COSTS ASSESSED ON CHARGE OF" ASSAULT AND BATTERY Francis VanWey paid a fine of $25 and costs in the justice court of Frank Peace on Thursday of last week after pleading guilty to a charge of assault and battery perferred by his wife.

C. Warren Long, who recently returned from Europe, where he did relief work, spoke at the North Main Street Mennonite church during the worship hour period last Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Nofziger, of Cleveland, Ohio, workers among the Jews, were at North Main St. thurch this Tuesday evening and conducted a service concerning the work with the Jewish people and Mrs. Nofziger spoke to the children. Rev. and Mrs. J Milton Bowman andn family, attended the home-coming of the First Brethren church at North Liberty, on Sunday.
