Swimming and games furnished the entertainment for the evening. Club members attending were Martha Wagner, Verda Longfield, Marie Erwin, Hilda Fogel, Bessie Weatherhead, Thelma Lape, Charlotte Dick and Florence Stauffer. NAPPANEE POST AMERICAN LEGION OFFICERS ELECTED Melvin C. Hahn was elected Commander of Nappanee Post No. 154 American Legion on last Tuesday evening, to serve during the next twelve months. He succeeds Commander Walter R. Miller who will relinquish his office on September 14th, Russel H. Hartman and Lowell G. Hartman were elected' First and Second Vice-Commanders, resjJfectively, and will assist the Commander in the continuation of the activities of the local post of the American Legion. ELMER MISHLER DIES SUDDENLY AT HIS HOMS ON EAST WALNUT STREET Elmer Mishler died at his home at 651 East Walnut street Tuesday evening at 8:20, following a year’s illness, but the end came suddenly, he having called to his wife and dying within a very short time. Prior to his illness he had been employed at the Coppes, Inc., as fireman and engineer. Funeral services will be held at the Church of the Brethren Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. M. J. Weaver being in charge of the services and assisted by Rev. L. E. Foudy of the Church of God. The body will lay in state at the Mishler home until the hour of service in the church with which he had been associated for the past 30 years. Mr. Mishler was born Sept. 14, 1883 in Kosciusko county, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Mishler. he was united in marriage to Alvina Davidhizer, Sept. 19, 1908 in this city and the last 19 years had been spent in Nappanee, the last 11 in the home where he passed away. Besides his widow the following survive: seven children: Mrs. Bebon Crafton, Miss Inez Mishler, Paul Mishler and Elmer Mishler, Jr., all of Nappanee; Mrs. Dorothy Swinehart, Elkhart, Ind., Robert Mishler, St. Joseph, Mich., and Mrs. Catherine Letherman of Wakarusa, Ind.; one step sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pippenger, an aunt, Mrs. Sam Martin of Wakarusa, and three grandchildren. MRS. HENRY BUSCHE GUEST OF HONOR AT PARTY HELD WEDNESDAY Mrs. Paul Uline and Mrs. Don Anglin entertained at the former’s home on Wednesday afternoon aS a compliment to Mrs. Henry Busche. OLD VICTROLA RECORbS SHOULD BE TURNED IN BY SATURDAY NIGHT The American Legion call for old victrola records to be remade and sent to soldier camps is in its last days and anyone having any records which they can donate to this worthy cause is urged to deliver them to the Glen Geyer garage not later than Saturday night of this week, when all will be packed, an shipped. The response to this call for old records has not been up to expectations and it is hoped the last couple of days will see many turned in at the garage.
