Hoover, Jr., recently named" as a winner in photograph contest in which 15,000 baby "pictures were submitted to the judges. The baby’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hoover of Nappanee received a 10x12 inch picture in a gold frame as the prize. SERVICE GUILD OF METHODIST CHURCH HOLDS MEETING MONDAY NIGHT Members of the Service Guild of the Methodist church were entertained at the home of Melba O’Neal on Monday evening with Alberta Lopp as assisting hostess. Devotions were given by Phyllis Walters after, which a very interesting on “Motives” was given by Mrs! Lowell Roose.’ Games were played during the remainder of the evening with favors being won by Florence Allmann and May McDow. * The next meeting of the group will be held on Monday evening, March 16th at the home of Miss Gertrude Sanks with Mrs. lone Ulery as assisting hostess. LAMAR MUTSCHLER UNDERGOES OPERATION AT ELKHART HOSPITAL Due to a bone growth LaMar Mutschler suffered the removal of the end of the third finger on his right hand at _ the first joint last Thursday at the Elk* hart General hospital. Carrying his arm around in a bandage and with his hand wrapped up he is being beseiged with questions qs to the cause. While painful the operation was successful. Desk blotters 10c each. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Culp were callers Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Beery and family. Glen Unger of Elkhart was entertained at supper on Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Stahly. ‘ Mrs. Joe Stouder spent last Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Everett Pippen, helping Mrs. Pippen with her quilting. Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Whittinghill and son, Billy were guests at dinner on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Stahly and son. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Beery and family were entertained at supper on Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Disher. Members of the Berlin Relief Corps met at the Legion home on Tuesday evening for their regular meeting. The birthdays of Washington and Lincoln were celebrated during the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Eppley and family and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kline attended the First Annual Assembly and Grand Court of Honor of the Boy Scouts of America held Sunday afternoon in the Goshen High School at Goshen. Scouts frond Elkhart, LaGrange and Kosciusko county were in attendance at the meeting. COUNTY LINE Shirley Weldy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs." Virgil Weldy is on the sick list. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Baker and daughter, Ernestine were Saturday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elias Sarber and son, Kenneth. Mrs. Lulu Oster attended the funeral of her aunt, Mrs. Rebecca Fields at Elkhart Wednesday. She is spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gordon at Elkhart. Virgil Weldy and daughter, Marilyn visited Mr. and Mrs. John Blocher at Wakarusa Saturday. Some of the neighbors and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Conrad and children pleasantly surprised them Thursday evening when they met at their home and enjoyed a pot-luck supper. Mr. and Mrs. Conrad and children moved Saturday to a farm near Wyatt. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford ThomDson and family expect to move to their farm here which was vacated by the Comrad family in the near future. . . DORIS BAILEY HOSTESS LAST THURSDAY TO DELTA HAND BRIDGE CLUB Members of the Delta Hand bridge club and two guests, Katherine Cox and Maxine Newcomer were entertained last Thursday evening at the home of Doris Bailey. During the evening the Club presented Marie Landis with a lovely gift, as she was moving away' from Nappanee. Bolyard, local optometrist and president of the North Central Indiana Optometric society, was in Mishawaka Tuesday evening attending a meeting of the association. R. C.
