LOCKE NEWS JOINT MEETING The Locke Brethren in Christ and the Union Grove Brethren in Christ congregations jointly are sponsoring a service in the Nappanee Community building on Tuesday evening of next week, Dec. 23, at 7:30. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Chamberlain spent Sunday at Indianapolis where they visited her brother, Pvt. Phillip Lash at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Campbell, sons Richard and Keith, of Elkhart spent Sunday evening with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Kronk and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schneck. Miss Mary Chamberlain spent the week end in South Bend visiting with friends. Rev. and Mrs. Harold Miller, living at Middlebury, are the parents of a daughter, born in the Goshen hospital on Monday morning, Dec. 15. Mr. Miller is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Miller and she was formerly Miss Louise Reed, daughter of Mr. and Mss. Jesse Reed, northeast of here.

Wm. McGowen, Jr., called on Mr. and Mrs. Elias Sarber, Thursday. BRISTOL COUPLE IN OBSERVANCE OF GOLDEN WEDDING Mr. and Mrs. Wm. F. Miller, of near Bristol, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last Friday and also held open house for their many friends on Sunday in their home in honor of the anniversary of the event. Mr. Miller and Miss Nancy Newcomer were united in marriage at Nappanee Dec. 12, 1891. They made their home here for two years, they then moved to Cando, N. Y., making their home in the eastern state until 1919 when they again moved to Elkhart county, taking up farming near Bristol. FUNERAL SERVICES FOR JOHN MIDDAUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON Funeral services for John Middaugh, 64, of Bremen, were held Sunday afternoon, Rev. Jesse Bellman officiating and burial was in the Bremen cemetery. He passed away at the home of a brother, George, on Friday. Two other brothers, Jonas, of Nappanee and Henry, of Argos, and two sisters, Mrs. Eliza Nettrouer and Mrs. Hanna Weaver, of Wakarusa, survive. NEW DEAL CLUB MEMBERS TO MEET WITH MRS. GRANDFATHER OF FORMER NAPPANEE MINISTER BURIED ON MONDAY Funeral services for John F. Pettit, 91, of Elkhart, were held Monday, Rev. F. M. of the Grace Lutheran church officiating and burial was in the Rice cemetery. He was a grandfather of John A. Pettit, a former pastor of the St. John’s Lutheran church in Nappanee, but now in Puerto Rico.
