COUNTY LINE UNITED IN MARRIAGE The home of Elder and Mr®. Elias Sarber and son, Kenneth, -was the scene of a quiet wedding at 12 o’clock noon on Saturday, Feb. 15, when Elder Sarber’s sister, Miss Deloris Jane Sarber, daughter of Menno Sarber of southwest of Bremen became the bride of Delbert A. Senff, also of southwest of Bremen and son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Senff of near Argos. Elder Sarber read the ceremony in the presence of the following guests. Mrs. Ttena Yoder spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Christian Helmuth and children. DEATH CALLS MRS. LUELLA H. SLIPHER FOLLOWING THREE MONTH ILLNESS i Mrs. Luella H. Slipher, of 351 East Walnut street, passed away on Thursday, Feb. }3 at 5:15 at her home after an illness of three months. She was born on July 19." 1867 in Clinton county, and was united in marriage with S. A. Slipher January 14, 1890 in that county. Mr. Slipher died at Mulberry. Ind., on March 25, 1930 and Mrs. Slipher came to Nappanee six years ago to make her home near her daughter, Mrs. LaMar Mutschler. Another daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Miller of Franklin survives along with two sisters. Mrs. Ella Lecklitner and Mrs. Marie Gable, both of Frankfort. She, is also survived by seven grandchildren. A short funeral service was held at the Wright Funeral home on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock and on Sunday the body was taken to Fair Haven Lutheran church where services were held at 3:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. Mr. Whitman of Mulberry having charge of the services and assisted by Rev. Ed. Miller of the Nappanee St. John Lutheran church, and interment was ;in the Fair Haven cemetery at Mulberry, Ind. The blizzard that struck this community Monday was of a pecu lar nature. The farmers here can tell you that snow did sift through every crack antjj crevice: making it hard on man and beast. Mrs. Mary Davis is able to be up about the house which is fine after being bedfast for a long time. A group of music lovers met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Heckaman Monday evening for a “sing” which is a very delightful way of spending a winter evening. Pearl Applegate is hapfiy to be able to be up part of the time aftefi being confined to her bed for several days. MISHAWAKA WOMAN IN CRASH NEAR jBENTON ON SATURDAY Mrs. George C. Shobe, of Mishawaka, was killed instantly' and Mr. Shobe suffered a fracture of ! the right leg above the knee and I many bad cuts. Sergt. Paul • Mescher suffered a scalp wound | and a fractured right hand and his companion, Sergt. John Pucel a compound fracture of the right leg above the knee and a broken J left arm in a head-on collision i between the two autos driven by Mr. Shobe and Sergt. Mescher last Saturday near Benton. Mrs. j Shobe was taken to the funeral j home at New Paris and the in- ! jured men were taken to the hospital at Goshen. f Mr. Shobe is 2nd vice president of the Mishawaka Kiwanis club and well known to members of the local club. AUTO DRIVER PINNED IN WRECK AS HIS MACHINE CRASHES INTO TRUCK Steel bodies ot' automobiles are causing some freak accidents,, two of a like nature occurring in this vicinity in the past few weeks. This new way of finding occupants is in such positions as to be unable to remove the injured. About 4:30 o’clock last Saturday morning a car driven by Emerson Haines of southeast of Plymouth, crashed into the rear end of a truck, on state road 30 in Plymouth. He was driving at a high rate of speed and his car was crushed under the rear of the truck which had stopped on the highway. He was pinned by the steering wheel and the dash board in the seat so tight it was necessary to jack up the truck before the injured man could be released.
