Ruddy Culp, after getting a running start in the first lap lost out in the keen competition and drew the | consolation prize,, another stick ot ; gum. no doubt, for , being able to j cram only 39 sticks into his mouth. “Brick” Phillips ran a close second ‘to the champion but lost out in the last heat when he failed in his attempt to use ttie last half of the fifty-eighth stick. Claiborne McAndrews came in a close third with 55 i sticks to his credit, and Ike Melllnger acknowledged defeat on the fiftythird stick. Nappanee can boast least one champion I . DOG KILL MORE SHEEP AT WAKARUSA Dogs entered the flock of sheep belonging to Joe Flickinger of a mile west of Wakarusa last week. Four head were killed and four more bad, ly’ injured.
