FORT WAYNE BOOSTERS ENJOYED RECEPTION HERE (Continued front Page One) jobbing, lines, of which there were twenty-two represented in the party. The object of the visit not only to Nappanee, but to many other cities .included in the two day itinerary, was to enable many of the wholesalers, jobbers and manufacturers of Fort Wayne to have the pleasure and privilege personally of meeting a large number of the men in other , cities with Whom they have dealt in business for years but whom they want to know more intimately. Such a .meeting-, in such a spirit must certainly be of incalculable social and commercial benefit to the people not unly of Fort Wayne, but to every community which has been visited and greeted in this purely good will building tour. While Fort Wayne is recognized as a logical center front which ntahy millions of dollars worth of merchandise is supplied yearly to the cities in this trade -area. Fort Wayne business men appreciate the fact that to these wide-awake neighboring places, Fort Wayne owes much of its prosperity and material advancement. On these trips, which are made' purely on the basis of Increased confidence and greater friendship,,no orders ,nf any kind are solicited. The' gospel ot the glad hand and kindly greeting is carried with the express purpose of securing co-operation among every ( eity and town in northern Indiana, in the interests oT good roads, belter transportation, mutual good will and teal service in building up the commercial and business status , of the state, for prosperity is more of a partnership -now than-every, before. The . Fort Wayne crowd includes many men of many talents —good ■speakers, singers, comedians, jokesmiths and fine business men, whose own personalities made, the trip- a very enjoyable and memorable experience, despite some of the discomforts arising from dust and heat. The boosters sang their own songs, writlen expressly for the trip by E. R. Lewis, DireotorvoF-PffbHefty of the Ft. Wayne Chamber of Commerce, and set to the popular tunes which men love to sing. They express confidence, business enthusiasm and more than all else, loyalty to- their home city, Fort-Wayne; ajid are .sung with a gustp and community effort which are inspiring. ■% There was a solemn and impressive moment in Warsaw last Wednesday afternoon. The —Fort —Wayne boosters, wholesalers and jabbers were on the march. Headed by the hand, to whose inspiring strains they encircled Warsaw’s downtown districts, they passed by a group at the court house square. As the colors went by, fluttering-in the Breeze, Warsaw’s oldest citizen, aged and benl, with long white whiskers and a ‘memory which antidated Andrew Jackson's nomination for the presidency Os Urn-United States, shaded his dim old eyes and stared excitedly at the passing column. Then lie looked again, as though Tie could nor believe liis senses, and exclaimed to—these about him, “For the Tuva Mike, look ■there! That’s “Tony” Heit up there in front-. Why, he .sold gpods in this town when I was a kid, and he’s still hunting business. No; wonder Fort Wayne is a bunch of 'go getters,’ when they're headed by a Methusaleh like that. I’lease take me home, my head aches.” Impervious to the. remark; "Tony” kept rigid on. He's the senior member of the firm of Heit-Mfiler'-Lau of Ft. Wayne, and Is one of the most popular and successful sales and business executives in the state' of Indiana, with a host of friends to welcome him everywhere, Nappanee folks will be giad to welcome “Toby”
