", • : REPUBLICANS GOT OTHERS Official Vote Must be Tabulated in The „ State Capital Before Result is Known. The official count for the State election held Tuesday is all in. but has not been tabulated, according to despatches of Saturday. Upon the face of the returns it is estimated that the Democrats have elected lieutenant governor and superintendent of public instruction in the Marshall landslide for governor, but the Republicans .elected the balance of their ticketOfficial returns from 70 counties received at the office of secretary of state Saturday indicate the election of the entire Republican state ticket with the exception of Watson, Goodwine and McTurnan. The contests are so close, however, that the final count will be necessary to decide. No compilations have been made and the exact pluralities will not be known until the table is completed. F. A. Sims, the Republican nominee for secretary of state, and Oscar Hadley, the nominee for treasurer, appear to be elected, the former by 200 and the latter by a plurality of 80 or more. The contest between John C. Billheimer and Marion Bailey for auditor of state Is close. The Republican leaders are claiming the re-election of Attorney General J. Bingham froth semi-official sources secured by telephone and telegraph by a margin of 700. Democratic leaders are claiming that Walter Lotz, the Democratic nominee will have the lead but that,it will take the official count to determine. Sixteen counties are yet to be heard from at the office of secretary of state and it will be necessary to await the final count before it is definitely known whether G. W. Self, the Republican nominee for reporter of the supreme Coujt. or Bert New, the Democratic candidate, has been elected. The Republicans are claiming the election of David Myers and Quincy Myers to the appellate and supreme bench respectively, but the contest is so close that the final canvass will be necessary to decide. MARSHALL MAKES STATEMENT. Governor-elect Expresses Himself Through Home Paper. Expressing himself through his home newspaper, the Columbia City Rost, Thomas. R. Marshall, governorelect of Indiana said: I “1 may not omit from the.first issue of your paper since the election to return my more than heartfelt thanks to the loyal and self-sacrificing Democrats of Whitley county who counted no labor too hard to make certain bur victory. Nor may 1 pass by those generous. Republicans who complimented me by their votes in the face of such a virulent campaign as was waged against me. I trust I I am modest -enough' ■to not'be ~pcrffed' up; grateful* enough to keep them always in loving remembrance, and brave enough to reward them in the only way they can be rewarded by giving them an honest and impartial enforcement of the law.” Receiving Election Returns. The News gave the election returns free Tuesday evening of last week at the Theatorium. The returns were slow coming in, but those which were given were the first reaching Nappanee and were upon results that indicated something each time. Even before eight o’clock there was plenty of evidence that Mr. Taft would win in the race, the greater number of bulletins being from New York. There was one thing which happened, however, that was regretable._ By a misunderstanding of the messenger boys who brought the telegraph ■matter to the Theatorium, .the services was closed shortly after 11 o’clock, when in fact the bulletins were received up until nearly 1 o’clock a. m. However, it so happened that nothing during that time was given more definitely excepting that Ohio had gone for M r. Taft. The crowd was large and packed the entire building. The Theatorium managers entertained the crowd between the display of bulletins with moving pictures, etc. The telephone installed was not much account because the local count was so very slow that the results were not known in many instances until next morning, and even on Wednesday afternoon. NEW IDEA MANURE SPREADER
c Uxc TLdea certainly has advantages over other Manure Spreaders. The New Idea is quite different from other spread ers; first, it is very near the ground making it nice to load into and is usually drawn with hut two horses. Second ~lt is different from other Spreaders because it is much narrower and can be drawn through a smaller gate or door and stored away in a smaller room. ; - Third —It differs from other Spreaders because it has two cylinders. The carries the, manure over the top,,while the smaller upper cylinder, revolving in the same direction, acts as a pulverizer when the manure comes in contact with botff. After the manure passes through between the two cylinders it passes into the distributors which thoroughly pulverize and distribute the manure upon the soil. % The New Idea can be seen at • ' ...
