It seems that the artery in his Irtt arm wsa sereraly bruise J, which suppurated en Wednesday uiht MIow ing, producing hemorrhage, which could not be stopped, and consequently caused his death. Arretted. Lewi Baxter, who resides at Bourbon, in this county, was arrested at or near Bremen en Monday last, and committed to the count; prison, after an elimination before a Justice ot German township, on a charge of passing a 450 counterfeit United States bill. We are informed by a gentleman living at Bremen that B-t iter and one or two others came to that place on Men Jar in a sleigh, and noon afterward B went into Jona Miller's stcVe. bought about t5 worth of merchandize, n 1 olf-reJ a $5?) grenhtck in pivrmnt. Mr. Miller on exam'tr.miike till pronounced it counterfeit and refused to receive it. whervu;yu B. went into another store where ho foua J a sm ill b y in attendance, and bought about lha same amount of goods, and jrave 'be boy the s ime. or another counterfeit bill of the tair.e denomination. The boy took the bill and give Bixter in c'.ungf, but w!iu his father (imt in be submitted the bill to him. He pronounced it counter'eit, and immediately started in earch ot the person who passed it on his 3 n, whom be soon came across. Baxter appe-ire ! astonished upon being told the bill was counterfeit, returned the $ 15 change without further controversy, but said the goods he had bought were in the s'eih. After the merchant htd got hi mney hack, he requested B. to come with im. whereupon B stru k him a violent b'o v on the noe, making the blood flow freely, and then started V run, kl'oed by sereral who had in the mMuiimt gathered around. He soon left all his pursuers, except a returned soldier naraeH fltrdsock, fir in the rear. After chasing him a mile or more, Baxter told Ilanlsock that if he d'J not q'lit'followinghirn he'wou'd shoot him- The latter replied that he hid been where considerable shooting was done, an 1 hf did not propose to be ac ired oft" now br one m in. In a short time Baxter sat down on a log and permitted ilirdsock to come up with him, wiio persuiJeJ B. to return wi:h him to town. On B.'s examination no cnanterfeit rnonev con Id be found on his person, not eren the bill which he had attempted to um; fltrdsock took the bark tr ick, and near the og on which B. sit do under a root or chunk, he found three $.') counterfeit bill, two of them folded together, the other crumpled up as he h id tutTed it iu Lis pocket when the merchant handed it to him. The JiHf'te reco-nized Bixter to the Circu't Court for trial, ind fixed his bail at $1.0 which ifailinjr to pive.lie was committed toj iil.
