Ktr Sr-i..ii. The Indianapolis Jonm l r al of the ith ult., says that it is reported that ( low V"ilard has concluded to call an extra session of the Legislature some time this summer or fall. VVetawc never luyl sirr other idea than that he would ik tins the first sober interval he enjoyed. Then? is no doubt much feeling in the Wright wing of th" Democracy against the Bank, which seems tobe widening an I deepening every day. But the quest ion with the Governor , will delav better the matter? The Free State Programme. I rn e. en- .i na tree Mate men of Kansas, says the j W rn v u.ii i Iii : I hicasro Tribune, have chalked out a bold, , - i . f , -- straight forward programme, and are inflexibly resolved to follow it out to lett c i .i -n , ' tor. Fourthly Free Statu men will attend the polls this fall, at the Territorial elec-1 t ion, and secure both the Legislature and j delegate to Congress; which legislature, when it assembles, will immediately repeal, repudiate, wipe out, and obliterate every ; vestige of the acts and appointments of the bogus legislature from the day of the first invasion down to that tim ; an.l commence ! anew.

How will Douglas vote? Peopfe will ask j these questions. But let it decide as it may, in the end thc Republicans will gain ! the victory. If the TopekA Constitution is adopted, Kansas will come into thc Union with flying colors, as a full blooded Republican State. If the Lccompton Constitution ia chosen, as soon as she is in thc Union, the Free State men will fortwith take possession of the State Government, and proceed to kick thc Pro-Slavery Constitution into a thousand fragments, and adopt the Topeka one. Once in the Union as a sovraign State, they can do as they please, none daring to molest them. Some persons enertain fears that the moist weatlicr may invite rust, but from an observing gentleman, an old miller ami resident-of this town, wc learn that but once in twenty-five years, in 1840, wa.s there a total failure in crop from that cause. He expresses it in this way: "There is just as slight chance for a failure from rust as there is that you may get hold of a red grain of com when dipping your hand in to a measure of white;" which certainly is an encouraging assurance. With two weeks more of dry weather wc may simply as.-er-that there will be harvested in this county as bountiful a product of wheat as was ever taken from'this or any other soil in the State of Indiana. Tlie Valparaiso Republican says thc wheat crop, in this section, is coming out beyond expectation. It is headed out so heavy, in many places, as to fall do wn, already, with its own weight. It is now confidently believed that notwithstanding the effects of winter upon thc crop, there was so much more sown than usual last fall, we shall have as large a surplus as at any time before. - tm ISSBSBBSSW iBBSBBS The last Democrat announces that O. Appalling Calamity. The steamship Montreal, one of the reg ' nlar steamers running between Quebec and J Montreal took fire when off Cape Rogue ( and burned to the water's edge. There
were about 500 passengers aboard, of whom a majority were Scotch and other emigrants recently arrived from Europe. Three hundred and fifty lives werelostfSt is supposed. This is truly appalling. Mr. Gibsos makes thc following explanation over his own fignature: My predecessor failed to pay what he owe, the State, by a very large sum. He paid what thc aceounts showed against him, but failed to put mc in funds to meet receipts which he had gittsfllonnty treasurers. These were legally binding on the Stste, and I was compelled to receive them as cash. When Mr. Brcslin failed to put mo in possession of th funds, I should have made it public. My kindness of heart, which, with mc, amounts to positive weakness, led roe to rely upon his assurances, and say he had pai'd all, cxrpt the 9204,000 reported. This was my great and only error. It may have been a wrong. I found it impossible to obtain the amount from him. and it was then manifestly proper that I should resign and invoke a legal examination. Its result will soon be known and by it I must abide. Aft Admission. The State Sentinel in an article referring to Hon. Johk O. Davis, M. The Equator arrived last evening from Red Wood Agency, having on board M'srs. Robertaon and Campbell, Indian traders of Red Wood and Yellow Medicine, and the Sioux Indians sent out bv Major .'l,o.li-.-oi to MKtnin the cnotive rnnimi Mrs. Noble and Miss .. miner. Ihey were accompanieil down by one of, and the only remaining .surviving captive woman taken at the Spirit Lake Saassacre. r , , " saisa Maianei. It seems, from what we could clean. these Indians proceeded on their march to a band of Vauctons, numbering some 190 loilges. On thetr way they came across the trail of the outlawed Sioux who com-' mitted the Spirit Like and Springfield out-i-i f ii i 1 1 . j rsges, wh.ch they lollowcl, and tound the munleretl body of Mrs. Noble. Miss Gardner is a young g"l apparently ,i , " not more than hiteen, ot an interesting appearanee and melkest behavior. She is lel't in the world anorpban an.l friendless. Her latiicr, monier, sister, uiotucr-m-iaw , and family were all massacred. She has but an only sister in tho vicinity of Fort Dodge, Iowa, to whom Miss G. pri.v to go. We learn that last evening a subscription was started for her, and inaiiv generous donations made by citizens and strangers, who were at the Fuller. This i a commendable move, iu which we hope a i;enerous-iieartel public will reaoiiy respond.
