Mann and children returned to their home in Clark station, Ind , today atter a two weeks' visit in this city and Argos. Misees Cleta and Wilda Wilhelm, of South Bend, are the guests of friends in this city today. They visited the schools this afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Roach returned to their home in Jackson, Mich., this morning after a few days' visit with her sister, Mrs.'F. P. Wheeler. There is more sickness in this city now than has been for years, most of which is lagrippe and lung trouble. The doctors are very tjusy, being out night and day. Farmers report their hogs dying off io this county. John Myers, north of town, lost all of his, about fifty in number. Geo. Deitel also lost about twenty head. It eeema to be cholera and is spreading fast. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Delap and Mrs. Rebecca Smith came to this city this morning and were taken to Argos to attend the funeral of Rev. Allerton, which occurred at the Christian church at 10 o'clock thin morning. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Geyer celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniverary at Mishawaka. Since they were married neither has been out of the county at soy time. Of all those living there when they came to St. Joseph county none survives. Mr. and Mrs. K.J. Parrett left this noon for their new home in Elkhart, their goods having gone yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Parrett have made many friends in this city who will be sorry to see them leave and will join with us in wishing him abounded success in his new field of work. The bill is a just one and, as stated, when a company writes a policy for a certain amount, it should be compelled to pay the full amount. The Forestry association is an Indiana organization in which most, if not all, the people are interested, since its purpose is to maintain and restore the forest area of the state once famed for its fine timber. At its recent meeting the association decided to present to the legislature a bill creating a forestrydepartment, to be in charge of a forester. The duties of the forester shall be to attend to the reforesting of the state; to fully explain to land owners the forestry law, to keep a record of everything pertaining to forestry, euch as manufactures, ellect on running water, increase in number of trees, etc., to direct the recliiming of swamplands for forests, in fact every thing that can legitimately come under the head of tcrestry. Kngliietr lU'nricr'A Kiht Leg Urok-u Kigliteen Can DerailvJ. A disastrous wreck occurred on the Pennsylvania line Sunday morning near the O. M. tower, west of this city. One train wis just coming off from the sidetrack when the other came along on the main track and crashed into it, derailing and smashing eighteen cars and the engine. C. W. Bender, engineer of the train on the main track, jumped from his cab and broke his right leg above the ankle, while the fireman remained in the cab and was not injured. Mr. Bender was brought to this city and the fracture was reduced by Dr. Aspinall, the railroad phyeician. Mr. Bender says he could not stop his engine as the airbrake refused to work. The wreck train was called at once and the track cleared oy noon. Mr. Bender was removed to his home in Fort Wayne Sunday evening. Marshall County Farmers' Institute.
