Washington Max Krebs, a j'oung German, recently arrested, has confessed to being "Jack the Slasher," who cut a number of ladies' dresses and to having committed a number of similar acts in Philadelphia and New York. Harrisburg, Pa. James Calhoun, formerly resident manager of the Equitable Life Insurance company, committed suicide by shooting himself. He was in poor health. Boston, Mass. Joel G. Tyler, late teller of the Safety National bank of Fitchburg, was sentenced to five years In Worcester jail for embezzling the funds of the bank. Parkersburg, W. Va. At Belpre, across the Ohio river, some one emptied two gallons of paris green into a large cistern belonging to Samuel Wilcoxen. Detectives are working on the case. Unknown Ship Joes Down. An unknown shin stranded in Si. Marv's bay, on the Newfoundland coast, burned and beaten to pieces. All the crew of at least sixty men perished, aid being impossible.
