A note appeared in Sunday's Inter Oceau stating that President Morrison of the Chicago, Hotart & Valpariiso electric railroad, held a meeting of the directors at Valparaiso Saturday during which a 500,000 issue of bonds was authorized. The road is to run from Valparaiso to Hobart where it. will connect with Hammond, Whbing &, Eatt Chicago. Mr. Morrison will be rememberedas a former citizen here who during his residence in this city lived in the house now occupied by W. T. Leonard. The show whi'h was imposed upon the people of Plymouth under the guise of Uncle Tom's Cabin resembled very closely a traveling circus. The characters as depicted in the original work by Harriet Ueecher Stowe were far from being accurately or even pleasantly portrayed. Each and every actor seemed imbued with the idea that it was all a farce and seemed to strive to his uttermost to overdo and exaggerate the part tisigned to him. The entire evening was consumed in presenting to the audience a play so completely different from all previous attempts at dramatization of the book as to b rder on the ridiculous. The redeeming feature of the entertainment was the uiusic furnished by the orchestra. No citicism what rer could be made upoa this. The saxophone duet wih orchestral accom .aoiment was attentively listened to od appreciated by all.

The ruling was made in a case appealed from the Jefferson county circuit court. Through the kindness, of Charles Woods, of Row Reils, North Dakota, but formerly of Marshall county, the Independent is in receipt of the liow Hells' Tribune, a paper which has just been started in that place. Among the locals therein we notice that Josiah hoff man of Plymouth, Ind., is at that place visiting the Woods brothers. He may re main in North Dakota. The Vandalia hauled alarcer amount of freight over its lines last Saturday than is usual, one of the trains establishing a record. This tram had fifty cars, forty-nine loaded and one empty, beine the largest ever coming over the road from the south. Two trains from the north had 101 cars, some empties, I but mostly loaded, being the largest amount of cars ever coming from the north over the Vandalia in one day. . The Pennsylvania railroad company broke all its previous records in the rnatfer of disbursements for last month. The pay roll of its employes for October at tbb city or Fort Wayne was 148,21)0 which was nearly 10,000 in excess of that for September. This does not include the pay of the extra men who are employed in laying new tracks in and near the city, and when they are paid, the payroll of the employes will foot up to nearly 175,000. Geo. E. Janis, special agent for the R. & O. railroad, arrived this morning with the original $16,500,000 mortgage recently given by the above-named railroad, a copy of which reached Recorder Walker about ten days ago It was given for an issue of bonds though but about one third of them have to the present time been lloated. There were attached to it 31,500 in 50 revenue stamps. Arrangements has been made with the revenue inspector to place the remaining 51,000 of revenue stamps upon the bonds as they are issued. It will occupy from 100 to 125 pages of the record and the fee for its tecording will be 50. from Thursday's Dally. Kev. Shirey arrived from South Rend today. II. 15.
