Attention is called to the danger incurred in the carehssly dumping of aohes. This weather is favorable to fires. It has been noted in different parts of our cry that a surprising lack of judgment is exhibited by emptying ashes fresh from the stove, close to buildings, lumber, and other combustible material. Little is known of the exact time when the Dunkards will come to this city, (ialen B. Royer, their correspondent, has congratulated the business associatiation through Chairman Redd on their success in providing the bonus. We may expect representatives in our city soon to select a site for the institution. A locaticL near the Pittsburgh track seems most debirable. Some of property in the region of the N velty may be utilized. The idea of occupying the t .cycle building is not entertained by the Dunkards. They prefer to have their establishment wholly upon the ground floor. The Logan property south of the school-house and the Kellison property adjoining is being regarded with favor. Also the property of John Render, just west af the school-house is considered desirable.

The Rourbon township Sunday-school conven'ion c nvened at Bonrboo today. One of the principal manners on the program is a description of Mr. John
Parks' receut London trip by himself. Itev. Frank Miller, the famous singing evangelist, is attracting crowds at the Presbyterian church. Mr. Miller's voice is to all practical purposes perfect. His sermons are interesting and eloquent. The roof of the county infirmary now shelters for'y-six inmates which is a greater number than it has ever sheltered betöre. Indications seem to point to a btill greater increase before the wi ter is over. Mrs Sarah K. (iardner of Terre Haute, Ind., associate grand matron of the Ot der of the Fas'ern Star, who has heen fielt ing Mrs. John I'arks and attending the chapter in this city, returned home today noon. It is stated that a large ice-boat is to be placed on Lake Maxenknckee. Some one entertains fears that there is not scope enough on the lake to get eveiy advantage of the wind. If the wind be in a minus-quantity greif care should be required selecting the crew. The executive committee of fhe Mar shall county Sunday-school association have begun t formulate a programme for their ccnvention to be held at the IJ. countered a hard task in undertaking
to sing the Fpiscopal vespers on Christ mas day. It will require h urs of tedious training to mister the tuns c and singing but no fears are to be e tertained. When the time comes the
