It is estimated on an absolutely accurate basis that at least t-0,(XJ0 men in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana and Michigan are planning to go to the Yukon Heids this spring. The estimate is built upon reports that 2,114 have actually bought tickets and secured ttieir implements and outfits. This company of argonauts is ready to start this week or next, and certainly before the month is up. The eleven-year-old daughter of John Hare, four miles east of North Manchester was criminally assaulted while coming from school by a tramp. He was arrested about two miles from the scene and brought to North Manchester. A crowd of nearly two hundred excited men quickly gathered about the jail and there was much talk of a lynching, lie was hurriedly removed to Wabash for safety and on the way he broke down and confessed his guilt. A negro was also arrested and later another man, who were identified by the girl, who is seriously injured. Judge Wilson thought he should be arrainged before the term closed. A Deahl represented him and waived a plea at this time. The court was asked to fix the amount of bond to be required of him, should he be able to give appearance bail during vacation. Judge Wilson fixed his bond at $00. Jt is believed by his attorney that his Llkhart friends will come to his rescue and not leave him languishing m jail until the next term of court.
