New rails have been laid on the electric car line which runs direc'ly to the grand stand, and no expense will be spared by the management to make the meeting the greatest one ever held in the west. Church, Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Slater A. Hess made an exhibition of the new McCorrnick corn harvester on Win. Varick's farm Monday afternoon which proved to be a great success in the implement line. Quite a crowd witnessed the exhibition. . Workmen are repairing the school house preparing for the opening of school the 10th of the month. J. F. Yocum, ear inspector at Lapaz Junction, who has been on the sick list for about a week is leported some betttr. The marriage of William Beck of Teegarden and Miss Alice Seltwrig'ht, of Linkville, took place at the home of Bev. M. L. Peter last evening. John Burkholder acted as best man and Miss Allie Beck, sister of the groom, as bridesmaid. The couple have the good wishes of all. The soldiers re union and picnic held here yesterday was a success in every respect. There were appropriate exercises, a good "square" meal for everybody and plenty of refreshments for those who had money. The attendance was estimated at 2,000 and the Walkerton band together with a martial music band from North Liberty furnished the music. There was a parade at 10:30 a. m. and a sham battle at 3:30 p. m. The pleasure was however marred by the sudden death of an old soldier, Cyrus Jones, who fell dead from heart failure as he was turning away from the table at dinner. His remains were taken to the home of his niece, Mrs. Hiram Goodwin.

Bosenberg, of Monterey, is here sup rintendir.g the preparing of rooms to be occupied by himself with a general store. Dr. Yocum, d' Mentone passed through here on his wheel enroute for Bourbon Tuesday, to attend the base ball game. W. II. Taylor the new Trustee has fitted up a neat ollice in the rear of Hardesty's store rdbm and moved the township library into it. Bev. London preached his farewell sermon last Sunday evening. Bev. G. W. Bundy, the in-coming pastor will preach his first sermon next Sunday evening. Last Tuesday evening some miscreant threw a brick through S. W. Cooper's window.
