Mrs. Lizzie Poorman was taken very suddenly ill last evening about :'.') but is somewhat better to-day. Miss Dora Deveny will entertain a party of her friends tins evening at her home on LaSalle street. Day S: Calvin dissolved partnership this morning in their butter and egg business, Mr. Day buying the business. Mr. John F. Parks, an old former resilient of this city, but now living in Atwood, was with us a few hours today. West Ileldon, of Plymouth, came over to Uourbon this morning on his wheel. Everybody always seems glad to see West. Miss Minnie Wilber left to-day at 11 o'clock a. in., for Columbia City, where she goes to teach in the public schools the coming term. Mr. John Curran, of Columbia City, is visiting for a couple of days with his sisters, Mrs. Dr. C. Matchette and Miss (iussie Curran. Miss Nettie King and (Jene (I raber return to their home at IJochester to morrow, after a week's sojourn among JJourbon friends. Miss Lucy Towns returned home from Valparaiso to-day, where she had been in attendance at the commencement exercises of the Normal school. The new cement side walk around the U. 1J. church parsonage should only be a start for the property owners, and people whose sidewalks are in a demented condition should investigate this walk and follow suit. An old farmer, name unknown to us4 got on No. 7 and got off two miles out of town. If he would read the lxir.ikxiu:nt lie would become better posted. Philip KrolT returned home last even ing for a few days. Flint Uockhill of Plymouth was in town a few hours to-day. Miss Amy ami Leuna Thomas returned from a trip to Chicago this noon. Will Lawrence returned home to-day after a tew days outing at Pierceton and Warsaw. A wheelman passed through town this a. in. on his way from Indianapolis to Chicago. Miss Mary Orr is at home again after a two weeks visit with relatives at Pierceton. The rallling fever has struck I ourhon hard. Kverybody seems to have something to rallle. Itichard Matchette is reported as being able to get about the house a very little by the aid of crutches. The Daily Inukpexdkxt delivered at your house every evening, after six o'clock for 10 cents per week. A brother of K. ;. Dolson's is expected Monday to view the city and country for a few days. Miss Jessie McAlpine returned home from Pierceton this afternoon, where she has been visiting witn relatives. Tho result of yesterday's ball game at Warsaw was a score of 2. to 1, in favor of Warsaw. There will be areturn game next Monday at the Uourbon fair ground. Our city is now talking quite seriously of putting in a system of water works and electric lights. It only remains to be decided as to the kind of a system wanted, and if a few of our weak-eyed people are willing for them. A large delegation of W. C.T.I :s. were over to Argos yesterday afternoon in the interest of the Women's Suffrage Association. During the day an association for Marshall county was organized by Mrs. Helen Cougar of Terre Haute. James liiggs and wife, Miss Lizzie Jden, John Thomas, Isaac 1 loose ami several others expect to take in the excursion to Niagara Falls next Monday, over the Nickle Plate, returning by the way of Toronto, Canada, and Cleveland Ohio. One of our farmer friends was beard to remark that he wished it would rain. He should pay up his delinquency to his home papers and subscribe for the Jxdkpkxdknt, 81,50 per year. Daily, JO cents per week, and the Lord will bless him with copious showers. There are a couple of hustling property owners living on tho west side of Main street, who are trying to secure

Several carriage loads of people drove over to Atwood yesterday to attend the colored camp meeting. Quite a large crowd was on the bal grounds when the game was called at this afternoon. Mrs. Lou returned home to Chicago to-day after a two weeks visit with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. F. Mendenhall. Little d'eorge Monpr, who has been visiting with Ids grandmother for a few days, starts for his home m Chicago to-day. Mr. Martin, nie of the teacVrs of the Plymouth schools, with his wife, were visiting yesterday with Mr. Martin's brother. Miss Fdith Horton of KIk Point South Dakota, and Frank Horton of New Decater, Ala., are visiting with the family of Dr. Johnston. James Carter, wife and daughter Mabel, of I lochest er, were visiting yesterday with Mrs. Carter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dr. T. T. Linn. The people of Uourbon can have the Ixii:ri:M)i:NT deliveied at their homes every evening after t o'clock, thus receiving all the news of the day. Few Singer had a va'uable horse to die yesterday morning. Its death was caused by Irinking too much cold water after being overheated. (Jeorge Feldman, attomey-at-law of South Uend. was in our city to-day on business. Yesterday he was attending a family re-union at his father's about seven miles north of here. He reports a large 'trowd of Feldmans as being present. Harry Perkins has a pony that persists in running away. He succeeded this forenoon in getting away from Harry and ran west on Main street where he fell in turning the corner, and was captured before getting any further. Warsaw's base ball team arrived on No. I, today, and reti-ed to the grounds for practice, (iame was called promptly at 2:.'JO. (lillispie of Plymouth and Watchter comprise the home battery, with Hippie and Middleton for Warsaw. While Miss Ilona Davis was driving north past tho I'. U. Church yesterday afternoon, her horse became frightened bv the Happing of canvas, which was left as a covering for the cement walk, and started to run, but Miss Hona quickly pulled him to the west side of the street, running him into the fence with but little damage to horse or buggy, but Miss Hona was very much excited over it all. Permission has been granted to shoot blackbirds in tho vicinity of the Catholic Chinch, where they have formed the habit of roosting in the shade trees at night until they have become a nuisance. Last night four men poured cold lead into the tree tops until Kx) birds fell to the ground below. It is thought this kind of treatment will soon abate the nuisance, and these four men will have tho eternal thanks of the neighborhood, and at tho samo time look at tho fun they are having.

Mr. Yariek is trying his lack at Twin Lakes fishing to-day. Mrs. Anna Shoemaker, of Plymouth, is visiting Mrs. (labbert. Miss Anna Johnson returned home from Chicago yesterday. For all kinds of job work in printing call on C. F. Flagg and get prices. The Iniu'kxiikxt's collection day is to-morrow. Have your bc ready. (Juitea number of people attended the exercises at the M. F. Church last evening. Porn To Mrs. Jean Ueneuick.a boy. the 11th. Dr. Oyler reports mother and child as doing nicely. Mr. F. 1. San ford, passenger agent of the Wisconsin Central, has contracted for the transportation of the threshing machine people.

Mrs. John eiders of Plymouth is visiting her husband's parents. Mrs. Ilankin of Plymouth visited in this place yesterday with friends. Twenty-two people left yesterday noon with the threshing machine. Mrs. Henry Hess and children left for her home at Chicago yesterday evening. Night Operator Thompson, at the Nickle Plate depot, was relieved of his position yesterday. Miss Daisy Howell of Plymouth, is visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Kershaw, for a few days. Ask Kd Losier if he ever saw a dead-man-drunk. He will tell you the best story you ever heard. Mrs. Chas. Hughes, who has been visiting her parents for several days returned to her home at Plymouth last evening. Yesterday a telegram was received by Hugh Pickerel stating that his brother, James Pickerel of Fredericksburg, Texas, was dead. Sad news, indeed. Monday. August 111, 1SC. Mr. Lowery went to Walnut this morning. Dr. Dutt went to Walnut to-day on business. Fxcursion to Niagara Falls via. the Nickle Plate to-day. Several strangers in town this morning names not known. J. C. Cordon and son Harry went to LaPorte this morning. Several people changed cars for the Niagara Falls excursion this morning. Lewis Swearingen and wife of Plymouth visited with parents in this piaee yesterday. ('has. Davis is preparing to start a restaurant on West Michigan street in the Hull building. Jim llavis went to Kokomothis morning-thence to (Ireentown. He will be gone several days. Oratorical contest Thursday evening, August LK., at the M. F. Church. Admission, adults l.'e. and children 10c. The lecture at the Christian Church iast evening delivered by V. I. Kirk, was well attended, there being between 1150 and .(J0 people present. Jacob Huffman left for Philadelphia this morning. The route will be via. L. L A: W. liy. to Indianapolis and thence to Cincinnati and Washington and several other points of interest He will return in a few days. La Paz. Li; Paz, Aug. 15, IStfi. James Sherland, who lives about l'j miles southeast of La Paz, in some way fell against his cider mill and got his hand very badly lacerated, about lo a. m. He come totown and had it dressed by Dr. Iloltzendorff. On last Tuesday about 1 p. m. the saw mill and tile factory of Adam Longaker about two miles north of La Paz burnt to the ground. Loss about Messrs. Stilson and Albeit now make cider every Tuesday and Thursday on (Juleon Logan's cider mill. They now have a good power. David Martin, living fourmiles northeast of this city on the Uremen road, lias one of the first make, No. 10 ( Hiver Plows. He has had it twenty years and has plowed over 'J,x0 acres of ground with it, and mould board, standard, and handles arogood yet.
