Hammocks for ZO cents at the Peoples Drug Store this week. W. A. Daily, wife and daughter, of AValkerton, were in the city yesterday. Fresh fish every Friday can always be found at Kuhn's meat market. Oliver plows cheaper than ever before, John V. Astley & Son. A full line of builders hardware very low at J. V. Astley & Son's. Mr. and Mrs. Bowell, Argos, were guests of John JJowell and family yesterday. IJicycles, bicycle sundries and repair work at Underwood fc Walls, Center street. Miss Anna Plank, of Rochester, was the guest of Mrs. D. McDonald this week. E.G.Fisher and W. E. Walters, of liremen, came over to see the circus yesterday. S. C. Tuttle is removing to-day into John Sullivan's new house on West Garro street. Mary Stuck, of West Township, had her pocket picked of S5.00 while watching the parade. W. W. Peed, proprietor of the Hays House at Warsaw, came down to see the elephant yesterday. Miss Myrtle Parks, who has been the guest of Miss Angie Thayer left forlndianopolis this morning. The largest stock of paints, oil and varnishes ever brought to Plymouth, at J. V. Astley & Sons. Henry lienfield was fined 89.55 by Justice Corbin yesterday for getting drunk. Fine was stayed. Oliver plow points only 30 cts. each and marked genuine Oliver on each piece, John V. Astley & Son. Miss Mamie Hoham left for Ft. Wayne this morning to visit relatives in that city for two weeks. Mrs. Wolf, of West Township, visited the city yesterday to see the show and was soon relieved of a pocket book containing j1.00. Porter & Pockhill stabled ani fed over three hundred horses yesterday. The entire block about their stables was packed with vehicles. Edward O'Prien and wife went to Grovertown yesterday returning last evening. They report Mrs. D. S. O'Prien as a little better. Clark Thompson's residence four miles west on LaPorte road was entered while the family was absent yesterday and about 610 taken. Mrs. John Kellerand Miss Ida Unger, ofXappanee, visited their uncle J.E. Pentz yesterday and attended the show last night. Miss Arcella and Earl Shores and a Miss Taylor, of Pochester, are visiting with the family of Mr. and Mrs. P. C Jones. They enjoyed the benefits of the circus. James Peeves, of the Vandalia force sprained his ankle quite severely last night. (ieorge Van Dorsen, who has been very sick, is reported better anil steadily gaining. Mrs. Susan Peed, of Argos suffered from pickpockets to the extent of 67.75 and some valuable papers. The funeral of Paby Smalley took place from the residence of M. D. Smalley this afternoon at 2:30, Pev. II. Marcotte, olliciating. Mrs. D.E. I teddeck of Pourbon had her pocket picked in the circus crowd yesterday of a purse contained a small amount of change. Mrs. Henry Carver, of Premen, had her pocket picked in the big crowd yesterday of a purse containing some money but the exact amount Could not be learned. A good many people from the sursounding towns came over on bicycles yesterday, among whom were M.J. Hartzler, Knox; C. J. Peters, Pochester; L. M. IJracker, W. C. Dewitt, Pochester. Two men, both legistered as John Doe, were brought before Justice Corbin yesterday, for drunkeness. The first John was fined l.55, and the second 613.55. Poth went to jail in default. Wm. Everly's family went out in front of their residence to wateh the parade pass yesterday, but the hired
girl returned to the dining room on some errand just in time to meet a sneak thief coming from the kitchen into the front part of the house. He made the plausible excuse that he was looking for a drink of water, which was given him by the girl and he departed before her suspicions were aroused. Alma, the little child of Wm. Pottorf and wife died at their residence near this city of cholera infantum last evening aged 1 yr, Ü mo. Funeral takes place tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock from Nisley church.
Some sneak thief entered Sam Park er's residence from the rear yesterday while the family were on the front porch viewing the parade but only got a pocketbook belonging to a guest's nursemaid containing one dollar. Many country people brought lunches yesterday and might have been seen about town regaling themselves about noontime on their tempting viands. They sat under shade trees, on lawns and on shady porches in the rear of stores. In addition to other articles stolen at Peter Stegman's house yesterday, his daughter Miss Dora discovered this morning that she was short a check for 625 and a valuable gold band ring. The house of A. Stuller on Jefferson street was entered by someone last night but the miscreants confined themselues to the kitchen dovouring all the fruit, cake, pie etc., they could get hold of. No valuables were taken. J. F. Seif ried had a horse badly cut while tied near Dishers mill yesterday. In some manner he became entangled in a piece of barbed wire which cut a severe gash just above the hoof. Dr. Linkenhelt dressed it and it is hoped no serious trouble will follow. The residence of Ira Lower also that of his mother next door were ransacked yesterday during the parade, only a few trinkets were taken however they having taken the precaution to put everything of value out of reach before leaving the house. The Ross House did an enormous business yesterday, in fact the largest, day the house ever had, and was compelled to turn many away last night in order to take care of their regular cus tomers Every traveling man was well cared for but many outsiders could not get in. While the family of Newell Graves were viewing the street parade yesterday some one entered the house and ransacked things generally, breaking off locks from bureau drawers etc., taking everything they could lind of value. Some handkerchiefs, a breast pin and six dollars in money were taken. Andy Uosebrock, of Pourbon, met with a painful and serious accident in this city last evening. He was walking on the Pittsburg track between the river bridge and the bridge that spans Michigan street. He had ar-rived at the west end of Michigan street bridge when he stepped off the track to get out of the way of a freight train. He lost his footing and fell down the stone abutment, breaking two ribs. Dr. Porton was called, dressed his wounds, and he was put on the evening train and sent home. Joseph Eshleman living about four miles from Premen came to the show yesterday with a pocketbook containing a 620 bill and a number of valuable papers. When he got inside the big tent he missed the book. Somebody had picked his pocket. The pocketbook was found early in the afternoon and Chief Myers placed an advertiament in yesterday's edition of The Daily InDErKNii:vr which soon resulted in its being returned to the owner. On examination it was found that the 620 bill was gone but the papers were all there. John Punnell's horse created considerable excitement last evening by running away on LaPorte street. Mr. Punnell had sent his son Lloyd who was accompanied by Earl North to the depot about 'J o'clock in the evening The horse has always been perfectly gentle and they had great confidence in him but he became frightened at the elephants and whirled around turning the buggy over, spilling the boys out and running up town where he was captured and turned over to Watchman Pennett who cared for him. The buggy was badly demolished and the horse somewhat cut up. The breast, collar and tugs were lost and as yet have not been found. Mr. Punnell would appreciate it if the party who picked them up would return them to his store. Last night when operator (lantis re turned from the evening performance at the circus he discovered that some one had entered the dpot and earned off several pieces of luggage. Kntranee had been gained by a window in the rear. Four or live satchels and two trunks were carried to a neighboring corn field where they were ransacked and their contents strewn over the ground. Among them was Agent Hughes Knight lemplar uniform and outfit and a trunk belonging to one of the colored members of theCasad Com pany. The remains were found there this morning, but no estimate could be made of the loss as none of the baggage has yet been claimed. Among other things was found a large pocket book containing the credentials of Thomas Teirney in the Cigar .Makers' t'nion, also a cigar maker's outfit. The theives were evidently after men's clothing. They did not disturb a thing in the ticket ojlice.
