The i copies party of Marshall county, Indiana, will hold a meeting in Plymouth, on Thursday afternoon, at the ollice of John S. Uender at 1:!0 p.m. This meeting is called for the purpose of conference and re-organizatioii. As this will he an important meeting, it is essentia! that all wh desire an improvement hi the industrial and financial affairs of our country, will make it a point to attend. Uy order of the County Central Committee, of the reople's Tarty, of Marshall count v, Indiana. Tin: IJourbo'i Mirror announces itself! i in line for hi-meialism. ! li:vniii to parly, right or wrong, is treason to humanity. Tim: popuü;!; of Indiana increased their tote li ii y per cent. San Fi:AMiMs elected a populist mayor by Ih.imi majority. l. Minnesota the populists have the majority in the state legislature. j China has had enough t war and will sue for peace through the I'nited ta'.es minister. Tin: 6Ugar re!i::eries in New York have shut down, throwing r.M) men out of employment. Tin: campaign of 1V.J should he hegun at once. Let us organize ami commence a campaign of education. In his annual report, Secretary Morton says, the farmer should not depend upon wheat as the staple export. How strancre. Tin: farmers Voice says: "When the people exhibit backbone enough to vote for relie'f, then they will be much more likelv to get it." Tin: principles advocated by the people's party will win, and when the year of 1V.I rolls by, the legislation asked for bv this party will receive attention. It is said that "Willie" Ureekenridge the Kentucky Colonel, has made several dates in Indiana for his lecture. Such cities as Ft. Wayne, South JJeiul and Jllkhart. w ill receive the noted Colonel. Wi: wish to call the attention of our readers who are in sympathy with the third party movement, to the call issued by tlic Marshall County People's party committee. It is the desire of the coinjnittee that all should attend this important meeting. Ilmv true it is that industry for over one thousand years has received encouragement, and yet to-day there are thousands of men in this country who are going from one place to another begging for the opportunity to be industrious. Why is it ? Dm: thing the peoples' party is looking forward to, and one of importance, is to see if the promise made by the republicans through their emissaries throughout the silver states during the late campaign is kept. That promise was an to give free silver at the ratio of into l. Okganization gives a feeling of encouragement and strength. What is needed is thorough organization, both state, county and township. To make a success of any issue necessitates the united efforts of all concerned. The People's party in Marshall county should move in that direction, and move at once. And still with the great victory achieved by the party that is the poor man's friend, and the announcement of the resumption of tho manufacturing industries throughout the United States, here comes the report of another 1" per cent reduction :i: the wages of the iron workers at the Indiana Iron Works at Muncie. Tin: beauties of the jury system in this country are wonderful. Tho more a man knows the more incompetent he is to be a juror. It has come to that pass there M-ems to be an irresistible conflict between the newspapers and the juryman. The man who reads the daily and weekly newspapers is ruled
by the courts to be too intelligent for a juryman when a man is on trial for his life. If he does not read the papers he is of course ruled out of the great circle of intelligent citizenship by the papers, and papers nowadays are mightier in the aggregate than the courts.
A fkw enthusiastic populists thought both old parties would be swept from off the face of the earth at the late election, and now complain and groan be cause the success of the ino emeai wi i dear to their heart was not successful
