sertions that all the cranks belong to the people's party.
Tin: words of the ancient historian, Pliny, are worthy of perusal. He says: 'The colossal fortunes which ruined Italy were due to the concentration of estates, through usury, brought about by lack of an abundant supply of money. I low grateful the American laborer and farmer should feel toward the two great political parties in their tariff reform. The republicans realizing the necessity of helping the people, placed dragon's blood and acorns on the free list. The democrats gave out that they were the o ily reform party, and since getting into power show the people how they were in sympathy with them by placing bologna sausage on the free list. Now every farmer can have sausage even meal if wheat is onlv about 10 cents a bushel. And ice too, that luxury we all desire, is on the free list and man can afford to buy a chunk of it and carry around in his pocket during the hot summer days. And lish bate, fish skins, and cat gut. What a comfort for the farmer to tune up his violin or guitar with a free tarilf string, going out anil sitting on the wood pile and sing "Maria, come over in our yard." and -Sweet Marie." And last but not least, they tell us that turtles are allowed to come over here free of duty. This we think, about the best, as they can be utilized in the hundreds of soup houses erected in this country for the benefit of the thousands of unemployed American citizens.
PEOPLE'S PARTY MEETINGS. The following are the appointments made for Mr. X. L. barber, candidate for representative for Marshall county, Ind. on the People's ticket: firemen, Friday, Nov. 2d. Plymouth, Saturday, Nov. 3d.
Vote for principles, not party.
Tiu ly the hammer and the plow are symbols of liberty. Chicago will give the two old parties a tip next Tuesday. Kehi" your eyes on the returns from the west and south.
Lkt the hammer and the plow be represented by your vote next Tuesday. You who sympathize with oppressed labor, cast your vote Tuesday for the people's candidates.
The laboring man who votes for either of the old parties, should never com
plain about hard times. The man who says he has conscien
tiouslv looked into the records of the
two old parties, and finds either of them
all right, is surely false to himself.

One of the oldest democratic clubs in Chicago, numbering :too, by unanimous vote, changed to a people's party club, and yet democratic and republican newspapers will tell you that the third party issue is a dead letter. The democrats do not tell the dear people that the tariff question is settled by the Wilson bill. Their song on the stump is: Coal and sugar and iron; Iron and sugar anil coal; These cases we'll try In the sweet by and by, Sorest while the ages roll.
The Chicago Tribune last Sunday utilized over a page in giving a synopsis of a political nature of the different political cranks throughout the United States. The two old parties were well represented, notwithstanding the as-
(ioshen is swelled up over a mountet police force.

A number of conflicting stories are told
in regard to the affair. The most plaus
ible one is, that with some companions
he was engaged in playing cowboy. A peculiar accident occurred at Wat
erord last week, which resulted in the

The Goshen racing association, which
held a three days meet last week, was a
successful affair. Klkhart is having an epidemic of ty
phoid fever. Improper sewerage and
poor water the cause. Mrs. Lucy Push has commenced suit
against the Lake Shore road asking judgement for 910,XJU. She claims she
purchased a ticket at Chicago from the
defendant to be conveyed through to Williamslield, Ohio, without change of
cars. She asserts that at Coldwater,
Mich., she was ejected from the train
and compelled to remain in the cold for
live hours, resulting in permanent injury to her health. Xappanee News. the latest faces in the job line. We
have one of the best workmen that
could be secured in Chicago, and we mean just what we say, when weoi'Au-
antee our work to give entire satisfaction. All we desire is an opportunity prove our to assertions to be correct.
