For the Democrat. Ma. Editor: The election has passed, and the Republicans have succeeded- Daring the campaign which we have just passed through, numerous charges were made by the Republican organ in this place, which were wholly uutrue, and many that were grossly misrepresented fo" the purpose of placing the Democratic party in a false position. The charges to which we refer, in particular can be found in the local column of the Republican oi October the 6th. and its several of them refer directly to us notwithstanding we have retired to private life, it will not be considered unbecoming to call on Mr. Phillips for the proof. The Local Editor says, "they, the Democratic officers appraised the improvements upon farms 75 per cent, lugher than last year, while upon lots in Plymouth, only 5 per cent, higher." We assisted Mr. K'ingcr in appraising the 'ols and improvements io Plymouth, last spring, cor.sequfntly wc are inclined to the opinion tint Mr. Phillips has committed a slight error in reference t the ii'cre;tse in the value of improvements a Plymouth.
