LOCAL ITEMS. ======= It is really provoking to know that the citizens of Plymouth, a part of them, at least, care so little whether the local press is sustained, that they give all the work they have done for cash, to city offices. We depend on the printing business to keep as alive, and when we are indebted to a firm and they have printing to be done, we think it would not be more than observing the golden rule to let us have the job. Five or six business men of this town have lately ordered their business cards from Cincinnati! We are owing some of them and would have been glad to have paid them by doing their work. We suppose they expect to receive most of their patronage from Cincinnati and therefore have more interest in seeing Cincinnati printers prosper than they have in seeing their home papers sustained. We are, probably, over sensitive on this subject, and should meekly submit to these little annoyances without as much as speaking of them, but it is not our nature to do so, and hence this article. ———<>——— While at the depot the other day, we noticed the arrival of a family of teutons, said to have been the victims of the Pike Peak humbug. There were two men, two women, three or four boys and girls, and an infant drawn by one of the men in a willow wagon. One of the women carried on her head, tied up a quilt, a bundle supposed to contain a featherbed, half a dozen bed quilts. two or three pillows. &c., while each of the others carried their proportion of the goods and chattels belonging to the family. It was a hard looking sight, but we suppose that "Whither they went and how they fared, Nobody knew and nobody cared." ———<>——— There was a dog fight down town Saturday night. Phillips was loudly called for by the excited crowd, but not being present, they concluded to <not> 'let 'em fight.' We were present, and expressed our sympathy for the "under dog in the fight." ———<>——— Enoch Belangee has concluded that he will thoroughly test the Pike's Peak Gold Mines before returning home. The most of the boys have returned, and, except Enoch, the others will be home by the 1st of July. ———<>——— A liltla irish by. while plji"g on the boom near Mr. Brink's Saw Mill bst Saturday evening, fell off into the river, and. bat for the assistance of Mr. J.-seph Pat terson, he would have b-en drowned.
