From a careful perusal of its pages, we elicit the following facts: Leavenworth City is situated in the ex- act center of the civilized world, on the direct road to Pike's Peak and consequent- ly to fortune; and contains a population of something less than a million most amiabl and benevolent souls. Her merchants are pure philanthropists, who have invested their capital in immense stocks of goods, which they are selling a ruinously low rates, for the accommodation of Pike's Peak emigrants. The same enlarged philanthrophy and lively sympathy with strangers characterizes the entire population. Not to be outdone in this noble zeal for the good of mankind, the editor assures us that he is intirely [sic] disinterested in publishing the 'Guide,' and wishes emigrants to make Leavenworth their starting point, only in order to prevent their being fleeced at some of the surrounding towns, the inhabitants of which are generally very great scoundrels. As a specimen of his bold and graphic style, the editor asserts that 'four years ago the buffalo and wild horse roamed at at will' on the site now occupied by this immense metropolis. We can only say that precisely four years ago it was our fortune to visit Ft Leavenworth; but after a stay of several months in that vicinity, we saw 'nary buffalo.'—<New Castle Cour>. ———<>——— Sir Walter Scott once gave an Irishman ä shilling in payment for something which only amounted to a sixpence. Paddy fum bled considerably, but couldn't make the! change. Bo jabers, ycrhonort an' its mesilf ca i't change ye.' 'Remember,' said the baronet, you owe me a sixpence.' Agh, long life to yer honor, an may ye live till I pay ye,' quoth Paddy. Pastry cooks generally furnish better puffs than editors do. The moon seems to be the most changeable of all the celestial luminaries; tho is continually changing her quarters. Don't force a man to tako your advice. You can advise him to take a bath without pitching him into the river. Integrity without knowledge is weak and ! useless; knowledge without integrity is dngerous and dreadful. Death is like thunder in two particulars; we are alarmed at the sound of it and it is formidable oniy from that which preceded it. It is with honesty in ono particular as with wealth; those that have the thing care less about the credit of it than those who have ft not. It is a good sign to sc a man wipo the perspiration from his face; it is a bad s;gn to see a fellow wipe his mouth as ho comes out of a cellar. Bo contented and thankful; a cheerful spirit rankes labor light, sleep sweet and all around cheerful. -

I was for ycara aillicted with that bane of nil comfort and efficiency in business, dyspepsia. To recapitulate all the so-called remedies which I hive used to rid myself of this disease, would indeed make a melancholy catalogue. 1 also consulted with the best physicians I could hear of. I was induced to try your remedies through the persuasions of friend, and after using them a few days was greatly benefitted, and in a short time, less than a month, 1 was entirely and permanently cured. I was also afflicted with the mot violent nervous headache, wnich I suppose was produced by my disordered .stomach, f.r when my dyspepsia left me, my headache left with it.
