Masonic fraternity of this place, on the occasion of the departure of some of their brethren for the gold regions. It is no exaggeration to say that there never was a company of ladies and gentlemen assembled on a festive occasion in this town, who more highly appreciated the hospitalities of genial friends, than the one assembled at Masonic Hall last Friday evening. The opening address, by J. G. Osborne, was a pachetic eulogy on the character of those who were severing the bonds whieh bound them as one man in former days. His allusion to the many happy meetings j within these consecrated walls, not to be again for a lime perhaps never brought tears from the eyes of many. At the conclusion of his address, he, as the representative of the Lodge, presented Mr. Mark Pomeroy with a splendid silver watch, as an evidence of their appreciation of the able and efficient manner in which he had : presided over their deliberations the past ' two years. Mr. Pomeroy responded in a J few remarks, returning bis thanks for this testimonial of tender regard from his brethren. The table was laden with a profusion of the most delicious viands that could be ! crocured: in fact, everything the appetite could crave was neatly arranged before the guetis. After supper, Horace Corbin made some remarks suited to the occasion. He ad verted to the circumstances by which they I ware surrounded, the loss of friends and . , . f.. . brethren, warned them off the possibility of ' failure in their anticipated enterprise, and concluded bywiil.r them a pleasant ! journey, plenty of gold, and a safe return, The guests seemed to realize that tkey j were in the presence of a band f broth- j ers, who show their appreciation of noble 1 conduct with a liberal hand and eloquent words. Finally, it was the unanimous opinion m .1 s e i of all present thatU was Rood for them to , be there. 1 .-.ea Tr Tr rv i , 1 If I'NTINGTON HOUSE. Julv 29th 36tf DrStJubn, the celebrated Chemist of New York citv, during his scientific investigations at the West was struck with the want of a pill especially designed for the billious diseases of the Western country, and affections of the liver. It is impossible th-tt a pill should be well adapted to cure of this kind thai is recommended to cure all diseases He has therefore compounded a pill with especial reference to this class of complaints. Thousands of families that have been afflicted with severe and protracted illness during many years residence at the west have escaped with comparatively little since they have used thes-e pills. Emigrants at the West are particularly liable to disease until they become acclimated. They would find these pills invaluable. The Bowels and their Functions. As perfect health is the greatest blessing that we can enjoy, without which all other blessings are of little consequence, wc deem it of great importance to point out the way for you to enjoy it. The bowels must be kept in a state by which they are enabled to carmm rtV Ii., iwol.ma nn'i. tluv i'o tin- main cliau- . ... And it is impossible to tell what a large amount of sickness has been caused bv constipation, or eostiveness; in other words, by not keeping the bowels regular: it is the main road to all diseases: it is list cause of unnatural irritation to the mucous, or lining membrane of the bowels- Having lost their natural strength, thoy cannot object to whtt is required of them. Hence bowels become inflamed, and unless you find a rclief ' thonrtud other complaint, arc or ready to drag you through a iwisserable am and wretched life. Such medicines must be given as will clnse the stotr.ache and bowels, and restore their natural strength. To accomplish this there is no compound so valuable as these Fills; all oth er medicines sink to utter insignincaiiee when compared to them; it seems as though the , ,, - ... f ,1 .
