Wc reet very much that we were forced to say anything about these nco being returned delinquent, and we should not, tad it not been that they, as well as others of their party commenced a tirade of abuse on the Democratic administration, by lieing and misrepresenting the County expenditures. There arc men on the-Republican ticket who we regard as personal friends, but political enemies. If we tramp on their toes they mm n't blame us. They can consider ua engaged for the campaign. 1 I Mi I i UThe $350 Press'! man says Mr. Oglesbee ' Assignee called upon ns and asked us to conect our statement in regard to Mr. 0 's taxes, which wc promised to do. Wc told the assignee that if we had done Mr. O. any injustice had misrepreaentd him in stating that he had been returned delinquent, that we would make proper correction. We vamincd the books and found that our statement waa correct, conseque ntly we had no correction to make. "Let the dead burv their dead." A Mtstory Solved. It is supposed that the reason why Mr. Pomcroy did not get the nomination for Commissioner, is, that he ras not returned delinquent for non-payment of taxes. It seems that tha Republicans were determined to hare a DeLtno.cc.Tr ticket this year, but unfortunately for them, ONE man got on to their ticket who was not returned delinquent. Eggs-traordinary Mr. S. P. Funk, of this County, left at our office three eggs, all laid by one hen, measuring 74 inches in circumference the long way and 6J inches around. The hen that laid these eggs is of the Cochin China breed. Beat this who can. Northern Ind'.anian. ITA Young Mr. McBroom !ad a whopping big Shanghai Egg on our table tie other day. It meti ured inches one way and b the other. MartUll County Republican. The difference 'twixt the e?gs above referred to, ii, the Indianian'i were laid by a hen the Republican's by ayoui Mr. McBroom!" ILTThe editor of the $350 Press says our statement in regard to Mr. Barnard being returned delinquent is false. We say that he was returned delinquent. We refer all whom it may concern to the record in the Auditor's office. ET We have on hand a lot of State Warrants for Justices of the Peace. Norrtern Jndianian. We would advise Justices of the Peace to keep out of the way of the Local of the Indianian, if they don't want to be arrested! Schuyler Colfax in Plymouth. Last Saturday wa3 the most enthusiastic day th Republicans ever had in PlymoHth. Quite a respectable procession amounting to one hundred and thirteen voters, and twice as many women and children escorted Mr . Colfax into town. At half past one o'clock speaking commenced, and it was the same old tune, played on the same old fiddle. 'Bleeding Kansas' and Lecompton' Lecompton and 'Bleeding Kansas, for an hour and three quarters. Many of Ids party expressed themselves disappointed in his pech said they had heard enough on thit subjtct, and wished he woul ! drop it. After bi3 audience was nearly tired out, ho commenced on the eitravigance of the Administration; and for an hoar misrepresented the financial affairs of our Government, as may be seen by reference to the speech of Hon.T. A. Hendricks, in to-day's paper. He occupied but little time on the Schiller letter. He a dd he wrote it, but denied that the 'enclosed was pay for electioneering.' We refer the reader to that letter, which speaks for itself. He denied being a Know Nothing, but was careful not to say he ne err teas one. (See John W. Dawson's reply to an article in th Toledo Blade, in Democrat of la,t week.) Tha whole proc edings speech, procession and all waa a milk-and-water affair, with a preponderance of the latter. Be on the Lookout! The Republicans ar using every possible means, fair and unfair, in the hope of succeeding at the election one week from next Tuesday. They have effected a permanent organization in every township in the County, and have provided their leaders with the necessary blanks for making out a complete list of the voters in every Township. Their object in making out this list is for the purpose of Deception. The way they manage it is this: They put down a Democrat's name, and go to his neighbor, who probably does not take much interest in political matters, and tell him that his Democratic neighbor has changed, and is now going to support t.'tcir ticket; and in order to pro re it they will show him the list with his name thereon. In some instances they succeed in getting a. Democrat to support at least a portion of their ticket; if they cannot do this, they will try to get him tc stay at horns on that day, and thus make ft vote for their utire ticket. We caution Democrats, arid warn them to be n their guard against all such electioneering schemes Vote tae straight Democratticket, end all will be well. 3T We learn from the Laporte Union. that a hone -thief was arrested there last weelC.who gave his nam6 as Joseph Buzztr. He confessed that he had stolen the horso which he had in his possession. He had in his possession 8420 in gold 8150 in Pennsylvania bank bills, 85 in silver, a certificate of deposit from a Chicago tank for 8140 in gold, and a military land warrant for 163 acres of land. He also had a recipe for coloring horses almost ny color to auit the fancy. He had also a lare number of Koys of different patterns, to suit pad-locks, tills, drawers, &c., .nd a certificate from tho keeper of he Penn. Penitentiary that ho had serred 4 - -. , j ..... eViren years in that institution. He has bce.i out of the Penitentiary two years.
