A Railway Incident. While recently passing, says a writer in Household "Words from Exter to London, on a great Western Railway, I found the carriage I had selected for the trip occupied by a very interesting' young lady and two rather talkative gentleman. Of course we became rapidly sociabla. From generalities we came down to personalities.
and amused each other with a variety of incidents connected with our experiences in railway traveling, many of which you may readily imagine, were singular enough. None, however, more so than the following, naively related by the young lady: Although I am not often campelled to travel without a ccmpantion.yet.I have such a dislike to the company of ladies and sick folks, that I never mao 1 journey in the l.idies carriage. On!y, once however, have I suffered any inconvenience through my unprotected condition, and that exception occurred very lately, and upn this very line. After I had taken my seat one morning at PadJington, in an cmty carriage, I was joined, just a ti e train was moving j off, by a strange looking young man, with remarkable long flowing hair. He was of a little flurried, but he seemed, beside, so disturbed and wild, that I was juite alarmed for fear of hi3 not being in his righi mind, nor did his subsequent condnct reassure me. Our train was an cxprass, and ho inquired eagerly, which was the tint station at which we were advertisod to stop. I consulted ray Bradshaw, and furnshed him with the required information. It was Reading. The young man looked at his watch. Madam said he, I have but half an hour between me and, it may be, ruin. Excuse, therefore, my abruptness. You have, 1 precVive, a pair of scissors in your work-bag. Oblige mo, if yo u please, by cutting off all my hair.' Impossible!' said I, it 'is impossible!' fiir. JMadara Lo urged, and a look ota ever determination crossed his features, 'I am a desperate man. Beware how you rofuse what I ask. Cut my hair off short close to the roots immediately; and here is a ticwspfiper to hold the embrosial curls. I thought ho was mad, and believing that it would bo dangerous to thwart him, I cut off his curia to the last lock. Xow Madam,' said he, you will further bligc mo by looking out of the tviow, I ftm r.lcut to tlcr.ge my c!otl:s. Of course I looked out of the window, for a considerable length of time, and when lie obsorved, 'Mailar:, I need no longer to put you to aüy inconvenience,' I did not recognize the young man in the least. In staad of his former rather gay costume, he was attired in black, and wore a grey wig and silver spictacles; ho looked liko a respectable divine of the church of England, of about sixty-four years of age. To complete the character, he held a volume of sermons in his hand, which they appeared so to absorb hem might have been his own. T" GOLDEN TRI TUE GOLDEN rT.IZE. THE C ILDES PEIZE. THE GOLDE PRIZE. DISEASE VANQUISHED BY Dr. Hoback's Scandinavian Remedies. A ITER YEARS OF STUDY AND EXperiuient, Dr. Roback, the eminent Swedish Pin eirish, succeeded in produding a medicine from ."enty-thrce different species of mountain herbs of his native lai.d, which acta directly on the causes of disease in the bl od, and by restoring the corrupted four.taai oflifo,to a condition of health and purity, cxpds disease from the system, wherever it may be located, or whatever rmy be its character. Indigestion, nervous complaint?, epileptic and uth er fit, coughs consumption in its early stages, sore throat, bronchitis, fever and ague, asthma, low spirits, sexual incapacity, feminine weakness, pricking of the skin, symptomatic of paralysis, rheumatism, neuralgia, turner, cancer, dubete, lassitude and debility, diarrhea, and all other disorders of the organs of respiration, the liver, the kidneys, the stomach, the nerves, or the muscular fibre, are unerringly cured by this preparation. It is to the MATEnits MoitBi or seeds of disease what an alkali is to an acid: it neutralizes them with absolute certainty, while at the same time it regulates the secretions, removes obstruciions from the bowels, creates appetite, renews bodily vigor, and regenerates every animal function. Such is the nature, such are the effwets of Dr. Roback's famous Scandinavian Blood Purifier, which, if taken in conjunction with his Scandinavian Blood Pills, will not only obliterate the most painful disease, but prevent their recurrence, and lengthen life beyond the ordinary span. In the "Scandinavian Blood Pill," Dr. Roback presents the result of twenty years of experience, liard study and experiment as to whit a perfect pill should be - No one can doubt their superiorly after one single trial. Roback: I have received so much benefit from your Scandinavian Blood Purifier and Blood Pills, that I have thought it my duty, and it is no less my inclination, to give you a plain statement of my case. I was for years afflicted with that bane of all comfort and efilciency in business, dyspepsia. To recapitulate all the so-called remedies which I have used to rid myself of this disease, would indeed make a melancholy catalogue. 1 also consulted with the best physicians I could hear of. I was induced to try your remedies through the persuasion of a friend, and after U3in;r them a few days was gyeatly benefitted, and in a short time, less than n month, I was entirely and permanently cured. I was also afilicted with the most violent nervous headache, wnich I suppose was produced by my disordered stomach, for when my dyspepsia ieii me, my neauacne leu wun it. i now leel better in every respect than I have for ten years. Very truly yours, JOHN S DEM UTH. Ci.ncix.vati, Friday, Sept. 4, 1857, Dr. Roback Dear Sir: Having been afflicted with neuralgia or rheumatism for the past year and a half, and having seen your medicine, called the Scandinavian Blood Purifier, highly recommended by gentlemen with whom I am acquainted, I was induced to try it, but not before I had used various other medicines. After using two bottles, I felt its effects very sensibly, and upon using two more, I found myself perfectly cured. You will allow me, therefore to congratulate you upon making a discovery in medicine which is proving itself to be a worker of such wonders in the diseases of the human family. GEORGE S. BENNETT, IjOcal Editor Ciacicnati Daily Enquirer. Indianapolis, Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1857, D. C W. RcBACK-Dear Sir: Having been troubled for several years, with extreme debility and weakness, so much so that I was unable to attend to my ordinary business at times, and having beard of the wonderful cures that your Scandinavian Blood Purifier and Pills were effecting, I was induced by a friend to try them. -1 have been using the Purifier for the hut twelve months, and find the medicine fully equal to its recommendations. So valuable is its u?e to me that I cannot now dispense with the use ot it at my advrjiced age of life seventy-seven years. I cheerfully give this information for the benefit of those similarly affected. MORRIS MORRIS. The above certificates, and many other, can be seen at my office, by any one at any time. A GENTLEMAN Who, two years ago, lay upon what his physicians and all his friends believed to be his death bed, is now alive and in the full vipor of health. His disease was Consumption, of which nearly all his relatives had died. The circumstances which led to his recovery were as follows: His younger brother was in the habit of reading to him from books about the hoiue to while away his weary hours. One day he read to him from aii old book published in London about the middle of the seventeenth century, of what was styled "A sympel and certain remmeedee for diseases of ye Lungs." Not wholly without hope, and unwilling to leave anything untried which gave promise of relief, the sick and dying man had the prescribed remedies prepared and commenced its use. The result was favorable. In two months he was able to walk about the premises without difficulty, and in seven months from the time that he commenced its use he was entirely well, and has not been confined a day since. Grateful towards an all-wise providence for his restoration, he proscribed it for all in his vicinity who were f.ffiicted with diseases of the lungs and general debility, and in every case it has proved effective. Thoroughly satisfied that it is the only safe and certain cure for Consumption, and wishing to do his fellow beings who are suffering, as much good as possible, he has concluded to send the recipe, with full instructions for putting up and using the medicine, free to all who may order it. In order to defray the expenses of advertising, letterwriting, postage kc, he requires each applicant for the Recipe to enclose 10 cents and direct to M. T.
