The nominations were unanimously made, and n spirit manifested that showed they also intended to elect their ticket. We fear republican prognostications of a split in the democracy iil fail them at the ballet-box. Some excellent remarks were madü bf W. M. Patterson Esq., on the uiinn of the democracy, and also by J. G. Oäborno Esq., on the present differences on the Kansas question. His remarks ought to be a quietus to all fears any one might hare of the anti-Lecompton democrats amalgamating with black Tepablie-anism. No greater truism, friend Fargher, but the only difficulty is the lack of noble souls, like yourself to Appreciate it. jtiTWe have received the first number of 'The National Dcraoci.it," a paper just started at Indianapolis, which' is to advocate, as itself declares, "the principles of the National Democratic party, as embodied in the Cincinnati Platfoim." Its motto is "Popular Sovereignty a Right"- "To defraud it i3 a Crime." Charles Smith, the editor, comes out in a handsome salutory, in which he shows himsalf a bold and spirited, and, at the same time, courteous writer. We anticipate that this new enterprise iu newspaperdom, will be well patrouiicd. It is a handsomo ßheet, and will no doubt bo worthy the cause it advocates. It is published semi-weekly and weekly. Amonjj the continued papers are The Cat acombs of Rome, My Journal to my Cous jn Mary, Amours Do Voyage, and The Autocrat of the Breakfast Table. The other articles are The Hundred Days, Happiness, The. Pura Pearl of Diver's Bay, The Story of Karin, The Abbe De L'Epee, Who is the Thief, Telling tho Bees, Persian Poetry, Sandalphon, and Mr. Buchanan's Administration. The hVter article we hare not read, but presume it is considerably tainted with Boston politics, for which vre profess no particular relish. Eighteen hundred volumes have leen taken from the Center Township LiLray within the year ending March 20. A fact that tells volumes for the reading community of Plymouth and vicinity.
