MORSE, Agent. . jan23 Vr F.. Plymouth School. We took occasion the other day to drop into the school-room of Prof. Johnson, and from what we saw, we formed a very favorable opinion of the discipline of the school. The number of pupils, though not large, was respectable, and what is most desirable in a school, they all seemed to know their business, and tvere desirous of mating the most of their opportunities. t- t t t teacher, and our citizens could not do bet ter, even if thev had to mako something of a sicrif.u-e, than to retain him among us. permanent'r, to conduct our schools for us We bespeak for our whole corps of teachers an invitation to all who have an interest in educational matters to visit their schools. Parents having pupita there, especially should visit them; if they do not, they care less for their children than they would for so much stock entrusted to a herdsman, for these they would certainly visit, lest they should not be properly cared for. If parents wouid know of the proficiency of their children, let them visit the school-room, and, thus, encourage both pu pils and teachers. We should have risited the other schools - in the building, bu; for want of time; we shall improve this privilege, however, a: the earliest opportunity; for the present we will rely on the good report wc hear of them, that they are in a prosperous condition. . .. JtSTWe publish in this week's issue a communication on the financial crisis from an old and esteemed friend of ours, who :i connected with a Banking House in Adrian Mich. The writer is a theoretical and practical business man, and a critical observer of commercial and financial affairs. Hid communication will undoubtedly be read with much iuiereat. jfSrWtt have omitted to notice until now, (he change in the 'South Bend Forum." It now makes its appearance semi-weekly, which indicates! these hard times, not a little enterprise on the part of the Messrs. Drapiers. We hope they will receive, as they deserve, a liberal patronage. JtSTThe question of the completion of the gap in the Cincinnati, Peru and Chicago Rail Road, between this place and Peru, . is again being agitated. Our energetic rail road man, Mr. Walker of Laporte, has proposed to build the first mile, if forty other men "will each build a mile which would complete it. This proposition is certainly very fair who will speak next? Of the importance of the completion of this rcute, and the necessity of its being built sooner or later, we will speak more at length another time. , ' Dr. Purin ton, The welcome friend of the afflicted has arrived in Plymouth, and taken rooms in the Edwards House,' where he will remain two days: The Doctor is well known as the Indian botanic physician, whose success in curing lunjj. chronio and other diseases that man is heir to, is without . an equal. Dr. W. II. Tiiompsox, who rcently graduated at the Homeopathic College at Cleveland, Ohio, embarked a few day since for Elkhart, Ind., where he designs practicing the "healing art."'
