JCSTlvinsas affairs are approaching the crisis; further than this, the latest news from the "seat of war' is of no special moment. Monday last was the day fixed upon for the opening of the debate by Senator Groon. Most of the members are preparing elaborate speeches, and it promises fair to beo ie of the most exciting discusions that ever took place in the American Congress. Douglas, the gallant defender of Democratic principles, will be foremost in tl e contest, with helmet and shiel I, and a two-edged sword. It is meet thai the Ti an should have a Tiian's task. Fear not, it shall be well performed. Cm Duelling at the Capiiol, it seems, is b-coiiiiiig singulaily fashionable. No less ih-in f'ur hae lately been on the carpet two äuiually fought: odp, by two mad-caps, whose seconds rery wisely drew the bul1 jts from the pistols, and letiiug one of the principals into the secret, arranged that lie should fall when the shots were exchanged, which he did bo adroitly that the other, believing that ho had "killed his . man," decamped for pft8 unknown, leaving his companions to laugh at his expense; the ether was fought by two naval officers, on the famous field of Bladensburg, where fell the gallant Commodore Decatuf, for whom a nation mourned. How leng will such a disgraceful state of things exist? Will not the holy indignation of a nation frown them away?
