It reports heavy failures in Enirland: an increase in the rate of discount bv the Rank of Kngla'd: cotton very dull and decline in bread-stuffs. ! Food is scarca and high at St. Paul, Minnesota, but corner lots ire said to be very low. A steam carriage for common roads lias made its appearance in the streets of Pittsburgh. It turns corners readily travels es uneven roads without dflizulty and runs eight miles an hour with a pressure of sixty pounds. Wasiiixotox, Nov. 20. According to the present intention, ox-President Lamar, of Texas, will b'j appointed Minister to Nicaragua. Affairs in Utah occupy the attention of the administration, but no deftinite action has ben taken in view of the latest advices from that territory. Sir Wm. Ousley will, by appointment, have a formal interview with the President to-morrow. The Mississippi river was full of ice on the 20th inst., and navigation, north of Dubuke was then closed. Bayard Taylor was married on the 27th of October, at Gotha, Germany, to Miss Hansen. He will spend the winter at Moscow. About nine hundred 'desperate' murders have been committed East, lately, for particulars subscribe for a cheap New York weekly. A negro woman at Hamilton, Ohio, came to her death last week by a discharge from a gun barrel which she was using for a fire poker. The load had been in the gun for thirty years. G. O.
