It gives us great pleasure to record the merited prosperity of the Edwards House, kept by Mr. G. B. Siedman. It has had the reputation of being the b-st House in Northern Indiana, and we are happy to say that the new proprietor is adding new laurels to its already extended fame. The convenient arrangements of the house, the unexceptionable fare, and gentlemanly attentions of all connected with it, renders it a place in which the travele rdelightsto tarry. We wish it all ihe prosperity to whHi its rare merits so justly entitle it. The hospitality of the ho9-t was duly appreciated. The republicans tke their late triumph very cool, and well they may, for they know their dom nex1 fall a fusioa will stand about as good a chance of being elected then, as a bob-tail horse does of having comfort in fly time. The Democratic party in this county has "heaved up Jonah." and got rid of all the sick Democrats. We were maJe a victim, but wc rejoice that the party is now cleansed. The ostensible editor has gone vamoosed absquatulated, cleared out, gone off and is "ow no doubt in Pittsburgh, Pa. GODEY'S LADY'S BOOK, f .r Xo vember, has been received. Gtmd as ever. Wouldn't know how to do without if. Subset ibe. C. Whitmore takes things cool, but is all the time at work, ar.d if you would see the result of r.is labor, just "drap in" and examine his boots and shoes, and if you don't buy of him it wont be our fault that's so. Old fogias havo to "squat" when they see the piles of jroods at the People's Store. Patterson fe Cleaveland have again opened their Meat Market. Xo doubt but that th"y will have a ''good run of custom." The place to buy any kind of hardware is at H. B. Dick?on Ac Co's Store. Wm. Williams, of Warsaw, has issued bills made payable in current money, for value received. Presume it i3 as safe as "Red Dog;" it is "a'.l the go" here. Talk about your fast horses and eight day clocks all you have a mind to, but paper money that is good for anything, is hard toget at now-a-days. ,3TGeorge U. In pursuance of their duty, the committee nave been inspecting the books, papers fc, tuchtng our city expenditures for the last fivo or six years or more, and their discoveries have been perfectly overwhelming.
