ILr Adver tisements, to'insure insertion, mu?t be handed in by Tuesday cvaniu preceding the day of publication.rj 8pcakinsrat lhc Court Honst. Col. J. C. WALKER, of LnPorte, add res tlio Citizens of Marshall county, at the Court House in Plymouth, on Monday, Octocer th, at 2 o'clock p. m. Thö well known abilities of the speaker is a sufficient guarantee that an attendance will not bs regretted. Turn out, and give the Col. a good hearing. Editors travel for their health, and to give their readers the result of their poregri:i i'ions ; and as ice have been traveling, wo have concluded to irive our readers the benefit of our observations. We have not been to Boston, neither have we been to New York, but wo have been to Tippecanoe Town, Marshall county, St ite of Indiana. It is a town of some thirty houses, pleasantly located on the north bank of Tippecanoe river. N. S. fc P. S. Alleman fe Co., are doing a good business with their flouring mill which, by the way , is the best mill this side of " kingdom cum" they are buying wheat at Plymouth prices g.indlng it into flour and sending it off. Dr.- Liejsford savs as soon as they getTippecar.oe-tov.n "fenced in, " there will be few such places. We attended a law suit before Esquire Coons.; plaintiff sued defendant for 810 damage, for tresspassing en his garden and destroying, as it was proved, three cabbage heads. Two were entirely destroyed, and one having a piece bi out of it was pronounced unfit for family use. The court decided that the plaintiff was enii:!ed to damages to the amount of fifteen cents, and fifteen cents cost, making thirty .cents, all told. From Tippecanoe to Bourbon, six miies, the road is as rough as any one could desire. Corduroy is distributed in I thick profusion most of the way, and ri ding over it in a spring carriage, 13 about as pleasant as going it a-foot. " Bourbon having the advantage of a rail road, is far ahead of Tippecanoe in th way of population and business. It 3 quite a town already, and is destined to bo the largest township village in the county. There are two steam saw mills in Bourbon, a Dry Goods store or two, a Drug store, a Grocery cfe Provision store, a Hotel, and a number of business houses which were closed. We were in a hurry when there, and had not time to look around n.3 much as we shall some other time, when v. a have more time. There U a3 good farms in Tip pecanoe and Bourbon townships, 3 there j are'in the noü-iern part of tho Stnte. It is too bad that our rail roads are located on the poorest land in the county ; strangers, passing through, are obliged to form an erroneous opinion of the land in Marshall county. The land lying along the Cincinnati, Peru and Chicago R. R., or at least the greater portion of it, is so poor that onions will scarcely grow on it. Go a mile or so, north or south of the road, and the land is as good a? could bo desired. A gentleman came to this places from the west, ashorttim-j since, with the intention of locating in this county, and was so disappointed in the locVs of the country, that he determined at onse to look . out some other locatien. He was detained here a few days, and concluded to go into the country and see how bad it was. On his Teturn he said he was happily disappointed in finding as nice farms and as good land as he had seen any place in the west. m o r County Fair. Competitors for premiums at tho coming Fair, will please call on Mr. D. McDonald at the Recorder's office, and make their entries: a3 ho has kindly agreed to attend to the business of Secretary in my absence. S. B. CORBALEY, Sec'y. Plymouth, Sept. 30. N. B. The Committee on Farms, etc., (Class A.) will please take notice that the time for making entries in said class has closed; and there has been but two entries, r.nA for the best 4 Acres of com. and the other on bees; said Committee will please call and receive a list and make view before the fair. . A. Baldwin, of the " Baldwin House, " will please accept our " most distinguished considerations " for a lot of the most beautiful cranberries we have seen this seacon. 5TDon't furgMt the "Big Show" to be here next Saturday. " They say " it's a whopper, " and if you would find out whether it's so, " go, and then you'll know, about the show, if " it's so." ' XSTRernember the Fair is to be held on to 16th and 17th. Every farmer in the county should bo in attendance, to see if hat 13 going to fce done. r SrSee "Notice Extra" and bo sure that you dont forget to be ir.
