0AdTetisexnents, to insure insertion, nnist be handed in by Tuesday evening preceding the day of publ'ication-XB - Plymouth is bound to be a great place; there's no use trying to stop its growing,
for it can't be did. New buildings are springing up so East that it is almost impossible to keep track of them. II. Corbin .ha3 completed two store rooms on Michigan street, and will have two more ready for occupation in a short time. J. L.Westcrvelt has a three story frame up, at the north end of the Bridge, which will be a -' valuable addition to our town when finished. Dr. Sherman has just finished three dwelling houses; Mr. Joseph Westervelt is buildiug a large tw torv house, which h? intends to occup n as finished; Mr. Larnari has ere- story and a halt dwelling house, on lair. l'ieice'sloSon Ga-j0f no street, which makes qu:,te a change in the loots of things on that street. Mr. Cleaveland has finished a two stoiy dwell in" house on Gano street; also, John C. Knoblock lias just finished a fine two story builclincr one door south of the P. 0., which is to he occupied in a short time by Mr. Rice, as a Dry Goods Store; Dr. Vmall has, but a short time since, bui't a very nice little house on his lot east of Mr. Hewitt's; D. Vinnadge has also built a dwellin" near the court house; Dr. J. E. Rrooke is building a cottage west of town, in a dt&i ruble location; ana a number of other buildinp-s have been erected in ton this season, which we might name, but we think wa Im- rriven enough to convince our ; " - Q- ----- - o readers that Plymouth is decidedly on the look up, and that it will some day equal in numbers with LaPorte, South Bend and Logansport. We look forward to a bright future for Plymouth. Will tlie Democrat liave the candor and fairness, to publish tho evidence of the falsity of his charge? M. C. RepuUicmi. VntTftn AI C. Ki7TrRi.lCAx: lhe last! M. 0. Democrat, contains a statement to j the effect that I offered M. O'llarra "fifty j dollars for his influence at the polls, on the ; dav of the election, for the Republican party." I do not want to multiply words j abut it, bat wisTi to say most emphatical- j lv that there is not a word of truth in what i M.Ö-IIarra state. , CD. BURCII. j Plvmouth, Julr 13, 1957. j Yes, Sir; we have the "candor and fair ,4. nnUzh the vAn"m and also I I , tj 4 V f that Mr. Burch acknowledged to Mr.- O'U irra, one day la3t week, (Friday, if we mistake not,) in the presence of two witnesses that he 'Burch ) did olTer him (O'llarra) ten do'.lars, for his influence. At 810 a week, it will only, tako Mr. Burch four weeks longer to acknowledge thc full amount he h.13 been charged with. We have no inclination to place Mr. Burch - in a false position, and should have let the mailer rest, if it had not been for the railin" of his organ the Republican. But nw it sems to us that there is some truth . iiv.thö statement, or he would not have . went to sec Mr. O'llarra on the subject Whv, if his statement is true, did he not ' m hpfim .1 l"":il aulhoiilv and make oath .0 o J : that such was not tho case, in place cf coins to O'llarra, to ;et him to retract his statement then the matter would have been at an end. There is now no doubt but that Mr. Burch did offer Mr. O'llarra money for his influence at the late election. : Occasionally we bear it said that Plvmouth is a bard place, that it is an immoral pl.tce; and that tbc citizens, generally, arc a fast people. . Tbesc remarVs, as a general tbing, are made by persons vbo know nothing about bas some bard citizens, but take ur population on an average, aiid for morals," and enterprise, we aro confident tbat our town will compare favorably witb any otber of tbe same size. . Plymoutb is fast growing ia wealtb and population, and ber enterprising citizens arc al wars wide awake to home interests, hence the jealousy of some of the citizens ol bur neighboring vi.hijes, and the talk that "Plymouth is a hard place." Wc Uaru from a private correspondent that a very destructive firo occurred in Preble count Ohio, on last Monday night, which entirely destroyed the Steam Distillery belonging to ('Mr. John Glander, airi the Twin Creek bridge, on the Dayton &vd Hitön Turnpike; loss about 81,000. . . : The fire originated from the carelessness of one cf lhe hands who went into thc distillery with a lighted candle, to draw some whisky for an eld drunkard, and while he was doing so; he knocked it into the cooling tub, filled with whiskey; which toot fire immediately, and in a few moments the entir building was in a flame. A happy future to her and tho rest of woman-kind, and may their paths through life be strewn with flowers, equal to the or.es before us. - " ; The last words that Mr. Winn, a printer : who died i:t Rochester, New York, was heard to say, was: "I'm on my last stickfull I'm coming to a paragraph and 1 suppose I'll have to wait for old death to put in the pericd.
