C 3?0Ci D. McDONALD, Editor. We have been requested to announce that there will be a meeting of the mechanics and laboring men generally, at the Court House, next Saturday evening for the purpose of re-organizing the "McClure Library Association." Owing to the rascality of one of the old officers, and some other hinderances which will not now impede its progress, the society failed to raise the requisite number of volumes to entitle it to the donation. The Agent, Mr. Canfield, now proposes to establish the society on more libera! terms, by donating a seal and thirty -one volumes. Ths is a liberal offer, and we trust that these interested in the matter will attend the meeting next Saturday evening, as they will never have a better opportunity to secure a library for themselves and posterity. Let every man consider himself a committee of one to circulate this notice, and thus secure a permanent library. The St Joseph Valley Register, of the 4th inst., in quoting from the Marshall County Republican, says; "It states that Richard Corbaley was convicted by the U. S. District Court at Indianapolis, for robbing the P. O., and sentenced to the State Prison for two years." The above is all true enough, only, the Register has got the wrong name. It was Robert C.-- and not Richard Corbaley. We hope the Register will make the necessary correction. We learn that there is to be a select school taught in the room, up stairs in Pershing's new building, the coming summer. G. Whillikins! Dem. 4th inst. Mr. Comstock called on us the other evening, for an explanation of the above paragraph. The idea that men, who were too poor to pay for the schooling of their children last winter, are now able to support a select school during the summer, struck us .is amazingly funny, and we think so still.--We know nothing about Mr. Comstock, never having seen or heard of him until last week, consequently it would not be supposable that we would say anything for or against him. Mail matter from Knox, Starke County, to Plymouth, is very irregular of late, we have received a number of duplicate letters from that place, in the last two or three weeks, which is very annoying to our correspondents as well as ourselves. We cannot imagine why this is so, as the mail is not orerhauled only at Sligo, and it is not likely that any of our mail matter is stopped there. Fourth or July! It is but a short time until the fourth of July will be here, and if we are going to have a "regular old-fashioned Celebration," it is none too soon to commence making arrangements.' We hope the coming fourth will be celebrated with more patriotic felling than heretofore. Let every man, woman and child, "pitch in" and do their utmost to have a "good time"--one "long to be remembered." time" one 'long 32orc Regenerator. W. W. Roberts, of Indianapolis, has presented to us, by K. K. Brooke, Esqr., of this place, one dozen bottles Hair Kogenerator, for which ho has our thanks. It is the best preparation for the hair, extant, as all who have used it will testify. Brooke fc Bro., one door south of Edward's Hotel, keep it for sale. Call and get a bottle, price 25 cts. X?TThe Rochester Flag is soon to be enlarged and printed on new type, provided, however, nevertheless, notwithstanding, but, simple as it may appear, that sufficient encouragement is given tho proprietors, in the way of "material aid" to remunerate them for doinjr so. 1 -1 X-iP"Mr. Loomis called on us one dav last week, on hi way to Chicago, to purchase a Plainer, to be attached to Wis Sash Factory, now in successfully operation in Jtochester. The "Must Potent, Grave and lie ve rend JSenior," i: Iat week's Kepublican, niakeo j a riJieulous attempt to prove feomcbody guiltj of a horri.I crime, in eoiiseiue an alte rat im boin made in the Litjuor ordinance after tho lirst publica:! n. If lie had been as anxious to know the truth in regard to the matter, as lie was to slander the Democrats, he could have obtained the information bjr inquiring of any member of the Board of Trustees. Dr. A. Mattingly resident Dentist, having lately located in thsj place, tenders his services to the citizens thereof. Persons serirous of securing the services of a Dentist should read his card in today's paper, and give him a call. We have been compelled to defer the publication of some advertisements intended for this issue until next week. Reai Whitmore's "notice, extra," if you want an extra quality of the article advertised. We learn that Mr. J. C. Hedrick, has been appointed Post Master at Bourbon, in this county. We learn that the Lake County Herald has "gone under." Peace to its ashes!
