TO CHECK FIVE-ACRE YIELDS IN OCTOBER Thirty members of the FiveAcre Corn Club have indicated they wish to check their yields sometime this month. Frost damage, although quite severe in some cases, on the average has not been too serious. Farmers feel that most of the corn was far enough along in maturity that it will finish in pretty fair condition. The Noble County Extension Office announces the names of several boys entered in the State and National 4-H Club Achievement contests. - In the State and National Leadership contest, Jack Frederick of Wayne township, and Claude Hoffman of Orange township, have each been entered in two achievement contests on the basis of their 4-H work as Junior leaders. Prize and awards amount to Gold watches, trips to National Club Congress in Chicago, and scholarships to State universities. Claude Hoffman has also been entered in the State and National 4-H Dairy Production and Efficient Contest. He was a $25.00 Savings Bond winner last year in this contest as an Indiana award and this year hopes to place in National

competition after adding another successful year in 4-H Dairy. | Jack Cole of Albion twp. has been entered in the 4-H Meat Animal awards. This award of county medal and state prize is based on the 4-H members entire 4-H career in the pig, beef and sheep projects. Jack has done extra good work in pig and beef clubs. ‘ These boys have to submit a scrapbook of their entire 4-H career complete with pictures of themselves, their projects, news stories and record books. They also submit a report form of their 4-H projects in scope and prizes won and a 1,000word story telling what 4-H has meant to them. These boys records as submitted by Noble County as representing their best entry for the 1950 State and National Achievement contests. e (e With an average of 472 lbs. of butterfat and 13,769 pounds of milk, the 19-cow herd of registered Holstein-Friesians owned by Russell E.
